F.Y.I.:  if you have enabled xUnit for ASP.NET MVC,
it is likely that the install for ASP.NET MVC v1.0 (a.k.a. RTM) will fail.

    Solution:

    (1) run xunit.installer.exe and for ASP.NET MVC click Disable.

    (2) install AspNetMVC1.msi.

    (3) run xunit.installer.exe and for ASP.NET MVC click Enable.

Hi Gerry, Can you post the error info to this thread? Did the installer block for some reason or was there an error related to installing templates?

    Thanks,

    joecar

Hi Joe, sorry but their is nothing to post.  Because of all of the problems with Add-ins,
it was easy for me to troubleshoot by myself.

I've posted this as a "F.Y.I." for the benefit of other community members who may also be using xUnit.

    MORE  INFORMATION
    ----------------------------------

To reproduce this, follow these steps (on a clean system):

    (1) install VS 2008 Professional; apply all upgrades

    (2) install ASP.NET MVC RC2

    (3) install xUnit

    (4) run xunit.installer.exe and for ASP.NET MVC click Enable.

    (5) generate an ASP.NET MVC RC2 with xUnit throw away solution to validate steps (1) to (4).

    (6) uninstall ASP.NET MVC RC2

    (7) install AspNetMVC1.msi.  It should fail without giving a clear indication as to why it failed.

    (8) run xunit.installer.exe and for ASP.NET MVC click Disable

    (9) install AspNetMVC1.msi. it should succeed.

    (10) run xunit.installer.exe and for ASP.NET MVC click Enable.

    (11) generate an ASP.NET MVC v1.0 with xUnit throw away solution to validate steps (9) and (10).

    PLEASE  NOTE
    -------------------------
When the ASP.NET MVC vX.Y install fails, it needs to fail more gracefully.

Example:  The install process has failed because the ASP.NET MVC vX.Y
                    templates can not be installed.

Reason:  xUnit vP.Q has locked the templates.

                    Solution:
run xunit.installer.exe and for ASP.NET MVC click Disable.
                                    install ASP.NET MVC vX.Y
run xunit.installer.exe and for ASP.NET MVC click Enable.

    Regards,
    Gerry (Lowry)
