Hi, I am looking for an MVC framework which we can use commercially. Dear respected microsoft guru's, what is the recommendation for the release Candidate? When will it be fully tested and ready for commercial use?
Its not going to be long now. I dont think a firm date has been set but it will be in the next few months.
Unless you are looking to make a really simple app you can start work on your MVC project now with RC2 and it will probably be released by the time you are done coding.
With it being an RC as well the feature set / API should be locked down at this point so you can feel good that your code will work on the final version with out any (or minor) changes.
Did you try looking around this forum before posting this question? Maybe you could look at the post which is right at the top of the list? The ASP.NET MVC FAQ post. Question 2 may shed some official light for you.
Released does not necessarily mean ready for you. Example, if you use xUnit for TDD in VB,
the xUnit team will not be ready with a template update for the RTM when the RTM ships
because that team is understaffed.
Also, good quality books may not be readily available because the authors are likely waiting for the moving target to stop moving. Expect many books not that long after RTM. Whether
they'll be worth purchasing is yet to be seen.
It's not pure open source but the source is available*. Once it's RTM, Microsoft will
support it like anything else similar that comes out of Redmond. I imagine the
team that developed it will be heavily involved for at least a few months after RTM.
You can also expect the many dedicate members of this community will be there
to comfort you and answer your questions to the best of their combined abilities.

You are welcome. In case you have not heard yet, RTM is available today.
ASP.NET MVC 1.0 is now a supported product, see the release notes:
"ASP.NET MVC v1.0is the first officially supported release for the ASP.NET MVC framework".

Thank you for all you replies!
Is ASP.NET MVC part of offical Microsoft code and supported by Microsoft cutomer support?
or it is an open source product which is supported by a group of enthusiasts on a side?

Akoval, in addition to http://forums.asp.net/t/1392423.aspx,
see also http://forums.asp.net/t/1395257.aspx

ASP.NET MVC 1.0 RTM will be officially released at http://www.microsoft.com/events/mix/default.mspx
MIX09 by Scott Guthrie at his Day One Keynote on this Wednesday, March 18th . That's my unofficial prediction.
Since it's in Las Vegas, I probably should be running a lottery pool on this.

Yes, customer support will provide full support as you would expect for 1.0 RTM. The prerelease versions are not supported, nor is Futures.
We have published the source code for the product, but it is not an open source project. Please consult the license if you need clarification.
