even viewing the ASP.NET MVC forum is horrific ....
crashes many times, totally random ... I think it must
be overloaded ... I had to try more than a half a dozen
times to post a brief new thread. Even "Preview"
had same behaviour. It's not scaling.
(probably entire forum ... *this* post just failed to post four times in a row)

yes, it finally has settled down for me too. Thankfully, because I've had
enough frustration with it this morning to last for months. For me,
it was not what I'd call a "slow spot"; it was more like being tortured.

Horrific behaviour can happen at anytime. Today, roughly from 10:00 for at least two hours,
possibly more. In my case, I'm in the Canada/U.S.A. Eastern Daylight Saving Time Zone.
It's not consistent to one time slot. Your best metric may be your server logs.
Today's behaviour had the smell one might expect if forums.asp.net was under a DOS attack.
Your router logs might be worth looking into also.
Generally, I'd call the behaviour random. Today's was the worst that I've experienced
since becoming a member of this community.

It seems that 10 AM EST is a sweet spot for bad performance. I started getting bad performance at
exactly 10 AM EST today, and it is still going on 10 minutes a later. There seem to be other posts indicating the same problem around the same time, for example:
http://forums.asp.net/t/1389607.aspx
Is there some sort of batch job or scheduled task to run at this time?
I see the odd patch of bad performance from this site. When it occurs I try to check performance of another US based site to try rule bad response by my ISP.
Currently about 50% of page loads on this site are timing out.

Just now, 12:17, Eastern Daylight Saving Time, from Reply to "Sign In" was 35+ seconds;
from "Sign In" to this message composition box, another 20+ seconds.
This needs to be addressed urgently, that's two days in a row.
Many members of the community may stop participating if this gets worse.

Hi Gerry,
It looks like the forums hit a slow spot back then. I am not seeing this behavior anymore are you?
