This does allow you or you and a team of helpers to continue the development yourselves. You must include a copy of the original within your project. You must retain all original copyright notes (cue for return of the #region .... #endregion).
I am quite stretched at the moment otherwise I would lend a hand.
I suggest you post a call for helpers.

I am not a coder, I can help answer some questions about deployment and other issues that I have experienced using the project. Does the call for helpers have to be official, I would think that folks would get the jist of the situation from these posts.
To be quite honest, how far do you want to push this mule?
We have been playing around with it for a few years now some with more success than others, would it be fair to say that it needs a full rewrite by the time VS2010 and .NET 4.0 will be in full force.
I am willing to play around in the code base and contribute to a new direction or perhaps a full rewrite of this application/site.

But who would be the ring master in this circus?
Well, for sure this project is being used by a significant number of users that would like to see it continued.
Maybe expand the CMS of it would be welcomed, also the profile settings do not work right. The gallery needs major work.
Version 3 is a disaster with the SubSonic angle, if you would like to take it over I don't think anyone would complain and probably others would jump in and join you.
An announcement at http://forums.asp.net/11.aspx would suffice. You should post an announcement along the lines of:
Subject: Interested in an updated ClubStarterKit
Body: Who wishes to participate either as developers and/or testers for an updated version of the Club Start Kit. Do you wish to see new features in it; if so please email me at xxxxx.
That you are not a coder is not an issue. Somebody needs to co-ordinate the various requests and priorities. Once you have somebody on board who understands the CodePlex source control system, you should be able to get a number of developers working on it.
If it has not already been internationalised, you should assign one developer to start the process by mov ing all user viewable text into a resource file.
I suggest that you choose project name like Club Starter Kit 2008 and create a new project on CodePlex. You can then post the original source file. As developers come on board, you can grant them access to the source tree.

I downloaded the Version 3 Beta in hopes of using it to develop a web site for our condominium association in Florida. This is my first attempt at doing something with ASP.NET so I am really wet behind the ears.
I am trying to build a site that segregates the public side from the private side. I have, therefore, moved a lot of the site into a private folder (things such as the blog, the forums, albums, etc. The public would just see the opening page with a signon
and a few additional pages showing some information about our association.
I have moved most of the signon code that appeared on multiple pages into a custom tool.
I have upgraded to the latest FCKeditor without too many problems. I wish we could modify tables, however, in FCKeditor.
I am trying to upgrade to Subsonic 2.1 and have had some problems. As a matter of fact the site kind of blew up as it couldn't find schema for the various data items in the DAL. I have rebuilt the DAL using the new visual tool in Subsonic 2.1 and it's
nice to know how to do that. I am working on rebuilding the site piece by piece now to try to get an understanding as to how things work.
I noticed before the site blew up on me that photo albums only show the latest one created. I don't know if that's a problem with the the code or the fact that I deleted some of the users who originally created some of the albums.
I saw that web parts was included in the 2.0 version. I am not really interested in giving the users capabilities to reformat the layout at this point. Maybe when I get the thing running this would be a future enhancement.
I can help a bit with my experiences but since I'm pretty much of a novice, I don't know if I can do any coding. I think this kit has great potential.
I would recommend that you give Version 2 a try,I think most folks think it is more stable and you don't have to deal with the Subsonic thing. I have given up on CSK being developed any further and have switched to BlogEngine, different but more stable
and a great community, lots of themes. It is not really a club application like CSK and there are a lot of things I miss but at least it is an active software program with a future.
