I think it should be easier to mark and also the thread originator should receive a confirmation when the message is marked. Also when thread originator is about to mark his/her own response, there could be another message verifying if this is indeed the
intent.
Beware of bugs in the above code; I have only proved it correct, not tried it. (Donald Knuth)
It's probably due to the fact that it mostly takes more then a minute to wait before the post actually gets marked. Once clicked the "mark as answer" button it becomes the ... as text and after that it takes a very, very long time before it actually becomes
the text "Marked as answer". And after that I try a refresh and try again.

If I remember it right from what I read in another post, if you have the #<Number>, like in the URI in quotes above, you may not be able to mark an answer. Just delete everything after .aspx or basically get to the orignal thread and then mark the post as
answer and you should be fine.
I don't know, it was not my thread and someone luckily already marked the correct response. I remember I had similar problems some time ago in my thread. I marked several answers as answers, then the next time I re-checked that thread, nothing was marked
and I had to repeat the marking process again.
Also there were many cases when the thread originator thanked for response, but none of the thread replies was marked even though the thread was resolved.

I did so when I discovered this thread.

That's mostly due to the fact that they see an answer, place a thank you note and see that shiny dropdownlist at the top of the page that one can set to Resolved. Case closed according to them. Most of the time however MSFT helpers or moderators come across
such threads they mark the posts as answered.
Perhaps a change in policy would be in place where a message would show, if the OP would reply, that (s)he could mark posts as answered if they helped him. I don't think this would take a lot of effort to implement.

Is there any way to bring to notice of moderators , threads which could have been resolved but thread creator just ended up saying thanx or sometime even not a thanks either ?
Don't say thanks rather mark my reply as "Answer" if it helps you amiT jaiN

Very hard to mark correct message as an answer

Hello,
I found that it is sometimes very hard to mark an answer as an answer. Here is a sample of this problem http://forums.asp.net/p/1360272/2808614.aspx#2808614
I think it should be easier to mark and also the thread originator should receive a confirmation when the message is marked. Also when thread originator is about to mark his/her own response, there could be another message verifying if this is indeed the intent.

Seems a moderator also so 'hard' to answer the question.

Here is another example of this problem
http://forums.asp.net/t/1361147.aspx
I think the OP wanted to mark my first response, not the last one.
