The installation reports that it can't install  Microsoft Visual Studio Web Authoring Component. I have Vista Home Premium SP1. There was a trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 but I uninstalled that and still have the problem. The following is the log from the install. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Since I haven't gotten any responses about my installation problem in this forum, does anyone have any recommendations for another forum where I might be able to get help on this? Thanks.

Web designer uses Office setup engine and it looks like the engine fails for some reason. It is difficult to tell why exactly. Perhaps Office 2007 forums may help? I've found couple of links, not sure if they will be helpful though

Do you have Office 2007 installed? Perhaps repairing it may help?

    Thanks

Interestingly enough, trailing slash in the TEMP variable may be causing this

    Thanks

Thank you Mikhail! While my TEMP variable didn't contain a backslash at the end, I did have a user variable set up for TEMP that pointed to \TEMP so I changed it to point to C:\TEMP and that solved the problem. I did a search on the 'counted_ptr cannot apply operator' problem, but didn't find the TEMP reference. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Big Smile
