I start VWD Express 2008 in XP Pro and name a new website.

I see an empty default.aspx in the design view and do nothing to it.

I build the page then build the website. All is OK
Next I try File | View in Browser (Start debugging forces the same error)
A development server port 3003 message pops up in the lower right and then
    Next a message dialog indicating

Microsoft Visual WD has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Is there a way to resolve this situation?
BTW the default.aspx works when placed on a remote server!

Try it again.  If it keeps happening, reinstall VWD.

After the first occurence, I uninstalled the product, then downloaded it from the web and did a reinstall.
I know the .aspx and .vb code is ok since they do run on a remote server.
Reintalling for the third time might work but I wonder if there are any other alternatives?

    Answer

Without knowing the cause of the error, it's very difficult.  It could be VWD, or it might even be faulty memory on your machine or any number of things.  Once you have tried the reinstall a few times, and still get the error, it's less likely to be VWD....
