I'm running Windows Media Center Edition and installed IIS after downloading v2.0; however, the .net web controls aren't showing in the browser.  I read that there may be a mapping issue with IIS.

I have no experience with the command prompt and seem unable to rectify the issue from there.  I downloaded 3.5 hoping that this version would be mapped with IIS, yet I still am unable to view the .net

components in the browser.  I programmed with .net  years ago with XP Pro and am looking to return to the language. I'm sure this is a simple fix and would greatly appreciate some assistance.

I believe you need to register asp.net with IIS:

1. Open command prompt (Start > Run > type 'cmd' > hit enter)
2. Type the following command:
1. %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i

Thanks for the quick reply,  I've tried that approach.  I believe the fault is in my inexperience with the  command prompt for xp. After typing 'cmd' the prompt opens

but has the path started as C://Documents and Settings/Nathan/ whereas the exe I'm trying to run obviously isn't in my user folder. What should I be doing to allow myself to type the entire path form C: in the command prompt.Thanks.

You can type (without quotation mark) "cd \" to go the root.

You can run the following exe from any location.

%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i

 Also, check if the following folder exists: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727
