I have worked with VWD 2005 Express for several month. But now I have the following problem:

I can load VWD, but when I will connect to one of my local websites or will open a new one, VWD reports that there is a problem (which???) and breaks.

I tried new implementations (VWD and .NET Framework) but it is still the same problem. My operating system is Vista Ultimate.

    Does anybody has a solution?

    Thanks in advance - Harald

    Hi,

Based on my understanding, when you use VWD Express Edition open or create website on vista machine, VWD crashes.

Please install the Visual Web Developer 2005 Express SP1 and SP1 Update for Windows Vista. You can download them from http://www.microsoft.com/express/2005/download/default.aspx.

Since it worked before, did you install Add-In for it? If so, you can disable it and then run it. This can eliminate the possibility that third party Add-ins are causing problems.

You also can try to run "vwdexpress.exe /resetsettings" to reset VWD's setting or run "vwdexpress.exe  /log <full path to log file>" to generate log file to troubleshoot this issue.

I look forward to receiving your test results.

First of all, thanks for your advice.

As I had at the same time problems with installing Vista SP1 and a check of the systemfiles was not ok, I suppose the problem is not VWD but the operating system. So I started with a very new installation and SP1 is installed now too.

The rest like VWD, etc. - I guess - will work then too. But your tip how to reset VWD- settings is a good hint.

Best greetings from old Europe - Harald
