I am not sure this is the best place to ask this question, the question relates to e commerce so i figure this is a good start.

I am getting ready to create a new site with my new host that supports asp.net 2.0.  I have done very little programming for web and i am just not entirely sure where to start.
I have a paypal account and i would like to take orders from my site and then allow downloads of software.  I am going to take a look at my paypal account and see how everything works but i was hoping to get some advice from others who have already done this.  I know that paypal will generate the code for me to accept the orders but i also need to automate the process of allowing the purchaser to download the software once it is paid for.  Is this something that can be setup through paypal or do i have to wait until the payment goes through and then i would have to let the purchaser know they can download it?  I would really like to make the process automated so they do not have to wait until i can manually check the sale.

I don't have a merchant account other than paypal and i had read some information relating to sales of software to be downloaded with merchant accounts is different than just accepting the payments.

i would appreciate any help on the matter.
And also, is the dashcommerce site good to use as a template for what i want or one of the other starter kits?

    Thanks
    Jeff

Well i have done some research on the matter and have found out that this is something that cannot be entirely handled by paypal.  They do have the option to return the buyer to a confirmation page and so from there i will be handling my login and download.

if anyone does have any more information related to software downloads and the starterkits or just in general i would appreciate it.

I think it is going to easier for me to just code the whole thing from scratch instead of using the kits from what i have seen so far.
