When monitoring the list of unanswered posts, I thought it would be nice if there was a search function, in which you could search unanswered posts for a specific keyword or similar.

I think it is a good idea. But at the same time, I am also thinking that how dynamic that search should be since so many threads will be changing their status from Unanswered to Active Posts.

True. But in my specific case, I found a nice solution to a problem that I wanted to share with others. So I thought that maybe there are other who have asked for a solution to this problem but never gotten any response.

Why not add search function both in Unanswered and Active posts? Wouldn't that be good?

Wow...thats a noble thought (and I am not being sarcastic). Generally, for this situation, they use FAQs and stickys but I see what you are saying. Take me for instance, I never read FAQs here or unless I am forwared thru the search engineWhisper.
