I bought this book two years ago. But I didn't have time to read it or take the 70-536 exam.

MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-536): Microsoft® .NET Framework 2.0—Application Development Foundation
    http://www.microsoft.com/MSPress/books/9469.aspx

Now that I have time, I don't if it's still a good idea to study it and take the exam.

Maybe is better for me to wait for the new .net 3.5 certifications and books...

Unless the core .net technology didn't change that much and studing this book gave me the foundation to work with 3.5 later...

    Thanks!

It's a pretty good book, and from what I have read the 70-536 exam will still be valid for 3.5 version of the framework. It appears that Microsoft won't make changes to this exam.

I like it a lot, and even if you are not thinking of taking the exam it is worth the time you'll take to read it.

    Yes, like you said:

It appears that the 70-536 exam is still valid, but will be renamed to TS: Microsoft .NET Framework, Development Foundation.

They will drop the 2.0 version in the title.

More important than the certification, is to know if the content of this book is still valid...

    I guess it is!

    Thanks!

The following are two links that show all the errors in the book.

MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-536): Microsoft® .NET Framework 2.0—Application Development Foundation comments and corrections Part 1

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923018/en-us
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935218/en-us  (and heres part 2)

You can't go more than 2 or 3 pages without an error. The revised edition is just as bad so reviews say. I am going to wait until the second edition comes out.

I hope the second edition does not add a bunch of new things which have errors instead of just trying to write the book error free like it was supposed to be in the first place.

    second edition out nov 2008

    Thank you!

It's very disappointing to know Microsoft Press can release a training book with so many errors in it. Maybe they don’t have money to hire a technical reviewer.
