In VS2005, you can select multiple controls by holdig the CTRL or SHIFT key. This doesn't work for me in VS2008.  So, what is the new way?

    Thanks

    Hi,

You can still select multiple controls by holding the CTRL or SHIFT keys.

That is my point. My version of VS 2008 does not highlight multiple objects with SHIFT or CTRL key.  Is a setting that accidently got turned on I need to reset?

    Thanks

    Answer

    Hi,

Yes, it seems it is not supported in VS 2008 although it was in 2005. Check these threads which discuss about the same issue.

As a side note, install this hot-fix to resolve some other issues

    http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2008/02/08/vs-2008-web-development-hot-fix-roll-up-available.aspx

Check the multiple selection feature after installing the hot-fix.

This is incorrect, you can't select more than one control. Multiple selection is not supported in VS 2008 - sorry.

    Thanks

Agreed Mikhail..That is why I wrote "Yes, it seems it is not supported in VS 2008 although it was in 2005". Moreover I tried it out after installing the hotfix and that too does not contain a fix for multiple selection.

    Thanks.

Hotfixes do not add features, they only fix high profile annoying bugs. Adding multiple selection is a pretty large change.

    Thanks

It is one of the many "little things" (eg the properties windows taking up to 45 seconds to repopulate - VS2005 on same PC is basically instant) that has made me revert back to VS 2005/dreamweaver CS3  for all web projects. At this stage the web design side of VS2008 is still too half baked for me to use in production projects it actually takes longer to do work in the web side of VS2008. It is an absolute joke that this was included in a RTM product and if this is from expression designer I now know it give it a wide berth. Will revisit once the elusive service pack 1 shows its head and Microsoft gets its act together with this product.

Are there any plans to ever implement multiple selection of controls? I thought it was going to be added and it wasn't included at the beginning only.
