I have installed VSTS(Default Mode), Silverlight Runtime 2.0, Silverlight Tools & Silverlight SDK 2.0. But whenever i try creating Silverlight application(C# or VB) visual studio throws up an error: "The project file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Saty\Local Settings\Temp\1\buxyyd4k.4vz\Temp\SilverlightApplication2.vbproj' cannot be opened. The project type is not supported by this installation." What is missing? I am able to create a asp.net web application of vb or c#. So surely there is something else to this.....Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

which version of VSTS are you using?

i had a similar problem.  i'd installed the silverlight stuff piece-by-piece and something hadn't worked somewhere along the line

uninstall all the silverlight stuff and install them via this download

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=E0BAE58E-9C0B-4090-A1DB-F134D9F095FD&displaylang=en

it installs all the bits you need to make silverlight apps using visual studio 2008 in the correct order so everything registers correctly
