I am running VS2008 standard on Vista Ultimate 64.
I have just received my copy of VS2008 and very excited, installed it and tried to create a new web project.... but nothing happens ?
I then created a new web application (VB), but am unable to edit any html or aspx page ??
So I tried installing the HotFix (KB946581) but that makes no difference at all.
The fact that MS is prepared to ship a product like this is a sad indictment of the current state of MS.

Can you please provide more information on what you are doing (step by step). Hotfix is unrelated, it addresses certain performance issues in the editor (which somewhat confirms that most users are able to edit pages [:)]

I can create a new web site in Visual Web Developer Express and it works fine. I cannot however, open that web site in VS2008 Standard.
If I create a new Silverlight project, it asks if I would like to create and add a web site (For hosting) within the Solution. If I try to do this, I get an error stating .webproj is not supported by this version of Visual Studio. (But it's supposed to be,

So I presume you have Silverlight tools installed? Which version? SL tools are still in preview, so there may be incompatibilities.

I Have MS Silverlight Tools Beta 1 (Was working fine under my trial version of VS2008 before it expired)
But this doesn't explain why VS2008 Standard won't create or work with a web site project without any silverlight in it.

Actually, it does. Silverlight tools replace Web project components with different version and modifies project templates, and this may be a problem. Try uninstalling SL tools. Check version of mswebprj.dll (it is in Common7\Packages), it should be 21022.08.

OK, Uninstalled VS Tools for Silverlight Beta and checked mswebprj.dll , my version is 21116.48
Uninstalling SL Tools had no change

This means SL tools uninstall did not actually restore component to the original RTM version. Perhaps repairing VS will help?

I tried that.. No luck
I am now removing every single MS development product from my PC including all sdk's and will then try completely re installing VS 2008 standard from scratch. sheesh !
