I converted a VS2003 project to a VS2005 project. I now have a website project but the menu has a Project Menu and not the Website Menu that I was expecting. Because of this I cannot find the Copy Web Site feature. How can I change this?

    Thanks.

If you are at VS2005 there should be a Website menu on it..

Maybe you are Creating a Project not a WebSite application... When you open VS2005 there is an option there for you to choose such as Project and Websites.. Try to create a new WEBSITE not a Project and im sure you can find the websites menu there.. Im definitely sure about that because im currently working with VS2005 and VS2008

Yes, I think that is the issue. I am in a Web Application Project and not using a Web Site Project. Now I have to figure out how to convert from one to another if possible.

I am using http://webproject.scottgu.com/CSharp/Migration2/Migration2.aspx to figure this out. Hopefully this will do it.

Here is a link that explains the difference between Web application projects and web site projects. Apparently, Web application projects are more like the VS2003 model so the conversion brings it to that model. I'm looking for an easy way to convert from Web application project to web site project. Does any one have any advice?

    Thanks.

Hi I am new to this community. I do not see a "Web Site" option when I click on File->New, I see only Project and File options. I have VS2005 version 8.0.50727.726. Can you please help me on this.

Try installing the Visual Studio 2005 service pack 1, if your system don't have it. it might help your problem.

    Thanks

Thank you very much for the email. I have SP1 installed it seems. Below is the information I copied from VS2005

    "Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
    Version 8.0.50727.762  (SP.050727-7600)
    Microsoft .NET Framework
    Version 2.0.50727 SP1

    Installed Edition: IDE Standard

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Premier Partner Edition - ENU Service Pack 1 (KB926601)
This service pack is for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Premier Partner Edition - ENU.
If you later install a more recent service pack, this service pack will be uninstalled automatically.
    For more information, visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926601

    SQL Server Reporting Services
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Designers

I have VS 2005 and I can use the FILE>>OPEN>>Website to open my website project, however it doesn't add this to my recent projects list like it did when I had VS 2003.  I also notice in the recent projects area, I have

    "Open:  Projects"

     but not

    "Open:  Websites.  Projects"

as others have.  Is there a way to get this functionality back?
