Hopefully none, but since it adds a bunch of new functionality there's no guarantee that it won't (in some weird scenario) trash your VS or .Net installation, causing you to loose some time repairing things.
That said, I've never had that happen to me. I'll still not install the CTP on my machine at work, only at home for now (a virtual machine could be an alternative).
yes is safe to install. They are placed in a separate folder inside Program files for the binaries and also gives you some new VS project templates. No registry settings or anything like that AFAIK.
We have tested the install and uninstall and the bits are installed in a side-by-side way... so there *should* be no issue. I am running them on my dev box as are most of the folks on the team. That said, there are always bugs so earily in the cycle..
so a VPC would be the safe route...
I get a crash on both install and uninstall in WebDesigner.exe.
On the off chance that someone is interested, I had both C# Express and Web Express installed. After I uninstalled both and installed the Trial version of Pro, I was able to install the Extensions Preview without further incident.

Def on your dev machine (what harm can it do?) but maybe not production until you evaluate.
