Hello community, ive been busy getting this to work. Now i have a somehow stable yet kinda rough version running. I would really appreaciate your help if you can post ads, trade fake stuff..etc
I wont say much about the website because i want you to be able to figure your way around it, I want to make sure that its friendly enough for the non-techies from a usability stand point..
Plz discuss comments/feedback..etc on my blog http://blog.love2trade.com (you will find a topic there for the website feedback), or if you want to be more private you can use the report bug link on the website.
Thanks alot for the help and support, You all been a great community!
Looking really good. Like the colors. You've really spent a lot of time on this, it's going to be great.
Ok you asked for feedback, here goes:
I usually don't register on sites that require a phone #. You might want to rethink that.
And you might want to put in some client side validation, because I left off my City, State and it took FOREVER for the page to postback after clicking the Create Account btn and then I had to retype my P/w's and reload photo and retype verification text.
I had clicked to bid on the sofa, then it took me to the page to create account but after creating account it didn't take me back to that page and now I can't find it.
Default radius of 10miles seems really low, since you go up to 500 miles I would set the default at that.
Doing a cash offer, when i finally got to an amount that was accepted the screen got all jumbled up then I clicked feedback/problem and page got even worse. After clicking to submit offer, it didn't go thru and I finally gave up as I'm tired.
Awesome feedback! Thats exactly the kind of stuff im looking for! Thanks alot!
Find my comments below.
<div mce_keep="true">I see your point with the phone number, you're right, i don't need it.</div>
<div mce_keep="true">I'll add client validation to the location control, i can see that being more convenient. I am not sure why validation was slow. it seems pretty fast to me, maybe the server was busy at that time (beauty of shared servers), also if
the application recycles it has to load > 80,000K zipcode entries that will be used for the AJAX location autocomplete.</div>
<div mce_keep="true">I guess I missed adding the return-Url part for register, it works fine if you're logging in but not so well if you are registering</div>
<div mce_keep="true">The reason i set up the default radius to 10 because i imagine the website being used somehow like craigslist where most trader will be locally rather than the hassle of shipping and paying other traders via paypal or whatever. But
i do see your point, ill move it up a little.</div>
<div mce_keep="true">Im not sure what you mean by "jumbled up", what browser are you using? I didnt do much testing on browser compatibility yet, it works best on IE. I wish you would've sent me a screan-shot. I'm also going to re-work this to allow only
a few attempts of entering an amount when sending a cash offer, that prevents people from trying over and over until reaching the lowest acceptable value, anyway, when your min. value was accepted, its supposed to pop a confirmation modal which you can review
everything and hit send.
I dont think ill have "The Report Feedback / Problem" in the live version it's really more of a convenience for the people testing to simply contact me. Its not fully AJAX so it will do a page redirect after you submit something, form data will be lost.</div>
I still have tons i want to do but i also need to have the core features stable and ready to be commercial.
Thanks again for the words of encouragement! And if you've got time please keep messing with it.
(I'll send you a $10 coupon code when i go live) ;)
-Regarding the email invite feature for wanted ad, (I still need to work on that)
-Colors for the top, i was debating that but i think ill do it because i agree with you, it does not stand out very well
-About the increase in prices in offers, I eventually plan on persisting that in a db instead of depending on the viewstate to make sure users are not being abused by low offers after a page refresh, however for now im thinking about it as a phase 2 sort
of thing, but its definetly on my list.
-Regarding unlisting an ad that was successfully completed in a trade. You are not the first to mention this, i was debating it because i didn't want to an ad to unlist, but i think it makes more sense like that and ill do that hopefuly by next release...by
this weekend.
Been busy the last couple of days getting a release that addresses most of the issues reported here and more..thanks guys v.1.0.0.25 is the latest as of now.
Daniel, let me know what you think, note that items you've already traded will still be active. Any new items that successfully trade will be unlisted with an option to relist them from My Ads..
Alright guys I'm planing to go live in production by Jan so i really could use some help testing, been getting few but great feedback so far but need more..
As a little incentive I created two promo codes that when used will discount upto $5 each from your total (its all fake anyways since its test so you wont get charged, you dont even have to use a real Credit Card on google's website , i included google's
fake CC numbers to test with).
AS A THANK YOU, I WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH 5 REAL promo codes $5/each (total $25) when I go to production.
I will honor that in production for your account if you help me test them in the testing environment. My only request is to:
1. POST A SOMEHOW Realistic AD (no TEST/FOO BAR ad title ..etc so you can encourage people to trade anything with you)
2. COMPLETE A TRADE/ or REJECT ONE (i really need to test this)
3. If possible join a trade zone and invite somebody
4. Afterwards send me an email or use the feedback/Problem link on the website to give me a useful feedback on your experience and options..etc
The codes are grace and firsttime, enter these when checking out
BEFORE you are redirected to google checkout. these promo codes will expire Feb 1st
FAKE Credit CARD #s:
Enter AUTH+OK as the value of the Name field and the first line of the
Address field
Why not make it opt. some sites have the phone number as an option.
One problem I am having is the site is to wide for my 21" screen the Ad that you have is to the right, and the res is 1024 by 768. You might want to try to resize the display.
Thanks for the feedback, The phone # IS optional (You to have make sure the textbox is empty though). I believe that was one of the things MarValUS mentioend above and i got that taken care of. The resolution is a little hard to manage because i wish there
was a way to make the website looks exactly the same on all monitors. But the fact of the matter is that you have 2 ways of doing this.
1. The EBAY way - (width:Npx) Have a fixed width area, so if you have a high resolution monitor you see a large white margin area on the sides
2. The AMAZON way - (width:N%) You leverage the whole width and the page always fills the whole thing.
I chose the amazon way because simply you can usually fit more on the page :)
I will however navigate through the website and try to address the pages that seem to need more than the 100% on lower resolutons

Hey Ash, how's it going?
I was testing out some of the features on your site, and I came across a couple things.
So I could be sure I created two accounts, one I posted a wanted, and the other I posted for sale or trade.
When logged in under the for sale login I browsed "Wanted Items" and it pulls up the item I have for sale,
so I click details, and it gives the option of sending a invitaion,
NOTHING goes through, the email feature there is not working.
Also on the same page you use some colors, that are a little to hard to read on my browser, Newer monitor with IE7.
The "~~ Advanced Criteria ~~" is too bright in my opinion,
and the slightly lighter green under the tabs just kind of blend in to nothing.
It took me a minute to find the logout button.
So from there I went to make an offer, and the ad was for a corvette, 50,000 min and 55,000 max.
I like the feature you have for not letting the user go up a dollar at a time when it says the offer is too low.
But you can get around it by just clicking back to cart and then make a smaller increase.
I think people will abuse the system. And in turn abuse your users.
You might want to think about a different placement for the make a offer, and make a trade links. (in the cart page)
Maybe next to, or underneath the update cart button.
Where they're at they blend in a bit, and a new user has to look for it. At least I didn't see them right away.
I finished the transaction with myself, and the only other suggestion I would have is that in the
"Acceptance Offer Notification" email, you should point out to the user, that if they are no longer accepting offers on their item,
they need to go to www.test.love2trade.com/Ads/MyAds.aspx and select "Unlist" to remove your item.
Or you could make it when the offer is accepted it automatically updates the adstatus.
Other than that, that's all I can find on it, it looks great.
And I love those features,
Talk to you later
