    Hi all,

Ok, been noticing alot of indifference between the two but I would like to get your expert opinions on this! Smile

I would like to implement one of of thse 2 search API's on my site such that:

    • I dont require physical access to the hosting server (The hosting company we use get very annoyed when we ask them to make changes on their box, so the most interaction we have ever had to the host server is via ftp to upload websites!)
    • I can customise the look of the paged results, and the search textbox and button
    • I can configure it not to search in certain folders (like the "Admin" folder for example) or certain pages
    • does not display adverts
    • finally, is free!....currently I am working on a site for a non-profit org

I notice that most people seem to argue about the differences in the type of results that are returned from either Live API or Google API...I'd hate to ask this and offend anyone, but in all honesty, which is the better of the 2? and which would be simpler to implement in a VB ASP.net website?

    Thanks guys!

    Oh, sorry...one more thing.

There is one page in this website that caters for dynamic content via a mini CMS that was also developed for certaion non-static areas of the site.

Would either of these solutions cater for this, or would I have use SQL Server 2005 full-text search on these?

Ok, for the benefit of others reading this thread let me point you to http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/WindowsLiveWebService.asp - it sheds some light on this matter, if you look at the comments toward the bottom.
