I ran that batch file just after installing .NET 3.5 (pre release) - as instructed. I suppose I could give it *another* try...

Maybe this is a problem because I'm not running an ENGLISH version of Windows?
I'm on a Dutch version of Windows XP, Service Pack 2, with al the updates form Microsoft from their site...
I had a look in the script that Microsoft says I must run, and the directory it's looking at doesn't even exist as far as I can tell - I'm currently searching for the file it wants to rename.
Ho-hum...

Re-running the script doesn't do a dicky bird (as I expected).
Also neither the original file, nor the renamed file exists anywhere on my machine!
Maybe that's the problem? the .NET installation didn't work properly?
(but then, why would other things work?)
(oh, and before you ask, I *did* include system and hidden folders in my search!)

I ran this file, and when i started my VWD and tried to run my aplication, I saw a lot of errors, it can't recognize ajax extentions, I've got an error like
Error 2 The type 'System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptServiceAttribute' exists in both 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Extensions\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Extensions.dll' and 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Extensions\1.0.61025.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Extensions.dll'
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\WebSites\encyclopedia.info.ge\App_Code\adminService.cs 16 30 C:\...\encyclopedia.info.ge\
Error 2 The type 'System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptServiceAttribute' exists in both 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Extensions\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Extensions.dll' and 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Extensions\1.0.61025.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Extensions.dll'
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\WebSites\encyclopedia.info.ge\App_Code\adminService.cs 16 30 C:\...\encyclopedia.info.ge\
Those files mentioned have suspiciously similar names to the files referenced in the script:
%windir%\assembly\GAC_MSIL\policy.1.0.System.Web.Extensions\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\policy.1.0.System.Web.Extensions.cfg
and
%windir%\assembly\GAC_MSIL\policy.1.0.System.Web.Extensions.Design\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\policy.1.0.System.Web.Extensions.Design.cfg
One thing I am curious about:
Can you actually *find* the files mentioned here? I can't see any directories on my machine under C:\windows\assembly (!)

I've just reinstalled my vwd because I couldn't stop, I noted 1 strange thing
after running this batch file the directory I pointed higher existed with 1 and had sub directory structure as in error, now this directory looks quite different!
everything back work but problem with slideShow error hasn't been solved yet!
Can you actually see the directory structure? I can't even see it...
on another thing, I think that the slideshow *might* be the only thing not working for me either.

Don't know if it's mentioned earlier in this thread, or in another I was readnig, but there is no non-AJAX-aware website any more.
ALL websites you create are AJAX-aware, so there is no need for a special one...

If you are having trouble with Ajax 1.0 websites in Orcas you should check out this blog post by Bradley Millington. Creating a new website in Orcas enables Ajax 2.0 by default.
