At first I thought it was my connection or something to do with my computer but then as I browse on my other forums on the Intenert, it seemed to me that this site is the slowest of all...in some cases the page is not even load. Somes I would just give up
becaus of the slow response and occasionally the page is not display at all. For example, from the "My Posts" page to the forums.asp.net page, it took 16 seconds. And to from that page to this page where I'm writing this message, it took longer than 16 seconds...must
be around 30 seconds before I can start typing these texts here. So what's going on? Is it my machine or what? I'm using a 3.4Ghz, 2GB RAM, and IE v7 under Windows Vista Enterprise machine. And yes, I have a T1 connection speed.
There are several reasons for this site being so slow (so slow it is almost worthless):
1. It runs on Community Server (legendary for bad performance)
2. The server it runs on is an overloaded piece of junk (apparently Microsoft doesn't make enough money to upgrade - I have already offered to donate)
3. There are a lot of users (this shouldn't be a problem)
There is nothing we can do about this. We are only the users, and the site's administrators obviously don't give a crap about our experience here. I can tell you first hand it doesnt help to complain about it either. They will just come back and say...
"thank you for your feedback, we are expecting some hardware upgrades soon, so stick around". But, it's nonsense, the site will
always be sluggish, no hardware upgrades are coming.
Like I told them in a previous rant - I'd like to see what would happen to Google if their site suddenly was this slow...
Thank you sharing your frustration. At least I'm not alone and not my computer. I just saw the site got a make over but nothing with the speed improvement. If when I find another forum that talks about asp.net and C#, I'm outta here until MS fix this thing.
