I just installed and opened Visual Studio 2005 on a new machine.  The "Find in Files" combo box is not in my toolbar, and I cannot figure out how to get it there (it is usually part of the "Standard" toolbar, but it is not in there and there is no option to add it).

I can still the get the dialog via ctrl-shift-f, or via the menu from Edit-Find and Replace-Find In Files, but I would like it on my toolbar.

I've installed VS 2005 a half-dozen times or so, but this is the first time I've not had my "Find in Files" combo box appear in my Standard toolbar, I've no idea what I did to make it disappear.

    Hi,

Try to click with the right mouse button over the toolbar, Choose Customize.. , and then choose Standard Toolbar and click Reset...

    Regards

Yes, already tried that, I should have noted that when I posted the problem.  I can't get the little bugger to appear again.  I miss it.  If anyone has the solution please post it, this problem is not resolved.

    Hi Tom_Regan,

Please try to run devenv /resetsettings or devenv /setup in Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt.

I tried both--did no good.  I open VS and my "Find in Files" combobox is still missing.

I can go to Add or Remove Buttons - Customize - Edit - and drag the "Find in Files" icon onto my toolbar, but it does not have the combobox.  And of course I can hit Ctrl-Shift-F to bring up the window, and then dock it--but it won't dock inside my toolbar with the little combobox.

This is of course a minor issue, but it is driving me a little nuts.  Ever since the first edition of VS .Net the little Find in Files combobox has rested faithfully on my toolbar. I got used to it.  There ought to be a way to get it back.

    Answer

    Hi Tom,

Seems you lost the "Go To Find Combo" item, Please try to add it into Standard toolbox.

    1. Right click the toolbar

    2. Select Customize...

    3. Drag and drop the "Edit | Go To Find Combo" from “Commands” tab to the Standard toolbar.
