    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1256">

    Now everything is Ok and the arabic text aprears correctly, the problem is when i upload the page to the web host, the arabic text does not apear correctly !!!

    Hi,

    Try changing the encoding of the browser and see if it works. Go to View->Encoding->Select Arabic (Windows).

    Hope this helps,

    I had checked your site and all the Arabic words appears right (the hand coded and the retrieved from the DB ones).

    BTW: I’m using IE 7.0 / Vista

    I, guess you had solved the problem; if not I'm here to help you Smile

    I have more than 7 years developing Arabic web sites.

     At the end: I recommend that you use UTF-8 encoding, it’s more global and many Arabic web sites are migrating from windows-1256 to UTF-8

    Thanks 1st for reply, the site is working fine because fortunetly i found the problem, which is i must have saved the page as utf-8, when i used the visual studio editor and from file>advanced save option i changed the encoding to utf-8 everything worked fine,

    I do care and develop most of my pages in utf-8 not windows-1256 because most of hosts support only this encoding, but the question now is:

    By default visual studio IDE save my pages as windows-1256 as it is the default encoding in my PC , so i have to change every page to utf-8 before saving and this is so boring so how to make the utf-8 as default?

    Thanks for the article, was great but still the question, it is not a problem but changing the encoding of every page before saving is boring, i know that in VS2003 there is a prperty charset that i can select the encoding but i always use web user controls and i write arabic in the asax page so before saving i must change the encoding to utf-8, that because VS use the default OS encoding

    Thanks alot

    Hi, I see you're an expert for site developping in Arabic,

    I have the same problem: texts retrieved from DB are displayed OK, texts written directly in the aspx (ver 1.1) page are displayed as junk.

    I used the UTF-8 meta tag, and culture=ar-EG Arabic (Egypt) and it doesn't help

    Have any idea for me? thanks allot!

    Hey, I don't get how can you save your page as utf-8 or otherwise. I have your same problem and I cannot fix it.
