Type 'BasePage' is not defined

I have the Starterkit 3.5 working fine on my computer but when I upload to my server I get the following error:

"Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.

Compiler Error Message: BC30002: Type 'BasePage' is not defined.

I made sure all references to folders were to the site root "~". I have rebuilt the project and uploaded the new "Release" folder. I know this has to be something simple but I just can't seem to see it.

How to install TheBeerHouse Database.

Hi guys,

This forum has really been a great place to be.

My question is very simple. It is to do with installing its Database in Sql Server 2005

I downloaded TheBeerHouse Project and in the 'Read me' file in Step 1 instruction it says to copy the database file to:

1) Copy the .mdf and .ldf files to a folder on the SQL Server computer, and name them
   with a name you like. This is how I named mine:

   C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\TheBeerHouse.mdf
   C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\TheBeerHouse_Log.ldf

But guys there is no such database file called TheBeerHouse, there is however one database called ASPNETDB.mdf in path:

ExtractedFolderName\TheBeerHouse\TBH_Web\App_Data

Ok then I renamed this ASPNETDB.mdf To TheBeerHouse.mdf

And then copied this renamed file to:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\

Is this the right way ?

My question is where do I get the TheBeerHouse.mdf?

Please reply. How did you guys install it?

Codesmith (or similar) templates for TBH architecture

Hello,

I've been getting acquainted with TBH and have added a 3 tier photo application plus additional content types, which all work well. But I'd really like to be able to add more stuff like this using a code generator to save me the repetition of the DAL and Stored Procedures in particular. I tried out the .netTiers template in Codesmith but have to confess it is waaaay over my head at this stage and seems a bit bloated, I want something simple like the TBH architecture. Is there a Codesmith template kicking around anywhere which generates the TBH architecture? I downloaded the trial version today so am still getting to grips with it, any help appreciated!

Thanks for your response.

I have defined it in ConfigSection.vb. The error is on ArticlesProvider.vb page now. I cann't create a instance. on the watch, the value of instance() is {"Value cannot be null. Parameter name: type"}, but Type is "MB.TheBeerHouse.DAL.ArticlesProvider".

Could you shed a light?

I got "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: type" message.

at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type, Boolean nonPublic)

at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type)

Any idea?

Converting to VB

Anyone know were I can get a tool to convert this to VB? I have a tool that will convert it but I have to do it file by file. Im looking for one that convert the entire site at once. Any help would be great.

where is the menu in the masterpage?

ok i'm pretty new to asp.net and visual express 2008.

i've download the beerhouse starterkit as i prefer to learn by breaking stuff and seeing how i can put them back together.

i think its best to start this process by looking at the generic stuff that websites have....i.e menus , navigation.

in the template.master i can't find where the top menu is added i.e

by looking at the template i would imagine it is placed before the theme select box.

i know that it uses the web.sitemap but don't know how it manages to display just these few pages when there are more stated in the web.sitemap file.

please point me to this.

has somebody read and researched the the TheBeerHouse project?

when i log in using the admin account,the hyperlink "admin" refering to the ~/TBH_Web/Admin/Default.aspx appears in the menu.I thought there could be some code like

"if(this.Page.User.IsInRole("administrator")

certain_hyperlink.show();

but there wasn't,would somebody please tell me how it works?thank you in advance!
