Select statement for arabic data not working!!

Hi,

In my asp.net code, I am trying to retrieve some data from an oracle database using a select statement that includes an arabic string (see in green). The select statement is as follows:

select * from T_GOG_PHONEBOOK where afl_name like '%عبدالله جابر%' and rownum < 50

For some reason, I don't get any results although, using the same select statement in SQL Navigator, I do get the needed results. The character sets in the database are WE8ISO8859P1 and AL16UTF16 for NLS_CHARACTERSET, and NLS_VCHAR_CHARACTERSET respectively (i cannot change them!).

What could be the reason behind this? Here are some things I tried:

changing the locale! (I don't know if what I did was right. I think not)
changing Oracle NLS_Lang in the registry (again, just trial and error)
encoding the string in my code. ?!?!

Please help me in this issue. It's been weeks :(

I created a web apllication in asp.net 2.0 and c#. I created a virtual directory for this app in a dev- environment. every thing works fine in dev. I moved the same code to a virtual directory in test environment that is integrated with -OAM(oracle access management).I recieve the following error.I appreciate any help in this regard.

actually we are using microsoft entireprise library for connecting to sql server database which is giving good performance for my application.Here I had a problem for my new application where I am using Oracle database as back end.To increase the performance of my application which library I need to use.whether that library overcome the connection pooling problems of my application.wht r the connection classes and methods that library conatains,which of the classes and methods I have to use to get good perfomance my application.please give brief description about that library so that i can find out the methods and classes of that library easily.......

Manipulate the data returned from database query

Hi,

I am new to APS.NET and programming in general and was looking for some help. I am using ASP.NET 2.0 and C# with an Oracle 10g Express Edition database behind my application.

What I am trying to do is retrieve the last 10 entries in the database (I know the SQL to do this) but would like some help on how best to fire the query i.e. would it be ExecuteNonQuery or something different?

Once I have retrieved the 10 rows of data I want to be able to manipulate certain columns within those different rows, the way I thought I would do this would be to somehow get the data returned from database query into an array? but I do not know how to do this!

Could anyone please give me some advise on how best to proceed in this matter or point me in the direction of some good websites?

Insert not inserting to Oracle db

I am just trying to learn ASP.NET but have run into a problem when attempting to insert data into my database.

I am using Oracle 10g Express Edition, Visual Studio 2005 and the code is in C#.

Here is the code I am using to call the insert statement;

I have created a function that retrieves data from the database OK which is displayed in a grid view, but when I run the insert nothing is inserted into the database. I don't get any errors and I'm confident that the connection to DB is OK as I have already been able to retrieve data as mentioned, I just dont know if there is something I am missing such as a commit for example? Have looked on the web and tried it a couple of different ways but still can't find a solution.

Any help would be gratefully received.

I'm in the process of creating a small command line application that will write and retrieve PDF's to an Oracle BLOB field. Currently I am working on the "writing" part. I did a bit of Googling and couldn't really find an example if doing this from the command line, everything was from a web form. Am I using the right Namespaces? Is there an easier way to do this?

How to update data returned using REF CURSOR

I am trying to update updated data in a gridview but the update button seem to do nothing as i retreive data using REF CURSOR.

Let me describe the architecture of my application first. I'm trying to implement best practice whenever possible. I am following the data access tutorial published in www.asp.net , the only difference is that i have an Oracle (10g) database. So I split my application into three layers, data access, business logic, and presentation layer. I'm also writing all queries in an Oracle package.

Using Multiple Databases with a single web application in asp.NET
