External Images using in ASP.NET Local Report

Hi There,

I am using Oracle as database, and on the local report i want to display company logo from external source (i.e. from the same server the application is resids). I am unable to that I googled it but nothing acceptable fining.

can anyone help out it.

I was not sure of where to post this. I am not sure of how appropriate the title is, but here goes:
The main focus of my post is to get a broader idea of current technologies. Taking a peek at non-Microsoft Technologies, I played a bit with JDeveloper and ADF. I have to admit that I noticed features that are not matched in the Microsoft realm of development tools and approaches. The whole framework is something else. I mean ADF is obviously targeted at business applications, and I as an ASP.NET developer have to develop Business Applications all the time. But ASP.NET does not have those cool things that ADF + JDeveloper + (add what you see fit here since I am not an expert ) have.

Why don't Microsoft start heading in the right direction? I know that they are working on MVC, and some other things like ASP.NET Dynamic Data, but I am not sure that this is enough. When working with .NET technology, it always feels like we have this big puzzle that we must figure out. We have to get a tool from here, and a whole other framework from their, and some hacks from somewhere else and finally glue all these things up. And after things start working, you notice that you are like the only one that knows how the pieces fit together, thus inducing a very steep learning curve.

I am starting to feel jealous when I notice how other developers that work on JDeveloper, are able to build a whole business application without having to write much code. Everything (almost) is done deceleratively. OR Mapping, they have it; MVC, already there; smart IDE that has tons of wizards, granted. In ASP.NET (.NET in general), we need something like NHibernate for OR Mapping, messing around with the BETA MVC framework for MVC, and have to get third party controls or even build our own to start feeling that we are developing smarter.

I wish Microsoft can learn from others, I might even start learning that Oracle technology cocktail.

Select statement for arabic data not working!!

Hi,

In my asp.net code, I am trying to retrieve some data from an oracle database using a select statement that includes an arabic string (see in green). The select statement is as follows:

select * from T_GOG_PHONEBOOK where afl_name like '%عبدالله جابر%' and rownum < 50

For some reason, I don't get any results although, using the same select statement in SQL Navigator, I do get the needed results. The character sets in the database are WE8ISO8859P1 and AL16UTF16 for NLS_CHARACTERSET, and NLS_VCHAR_CHARACTERSET respectively (i cannot change them!).

What could be the reason behind this? Here are some things I tried:

changing the locale! (I don't know if what I did was right. I think not)
changing Oracle NLS_Lang in the registry (again, just trial and error)
encoding the string in my code. ?!?!

Please help me in this issue. It's been weeks :(

I created a web apllication in asp.net 2.0 and c#. I created a virtual directory for this app in a dev- environment. every thing works fine in dev. I moved the same code to a virtual directory in test environment that is integrated with -OAM(oracle access management).I recieve the following error.I appreciate any help in this regard.

Unicode data in oracle database shows "?" question marks...........

I have installed oracle database on a Linux base server.

Now if I run my asp.net application, which is on windows XP system, which is accessing the

above mentioned database then everything goes fine. I can easily store Unicode data in correct form.

But if I run my application using Windows Server 2003 then the unicode data saved by the

application shows "?" question marks in database.

Does this problem is windows version specific or anything else?????

Does anyone have the solution????????

Hi,

I am new to APS.NET and programming in general and was looking for some help. I am using ASP.NET 2.0 and C# with an Oracle 10g Express Edition database behind my application.

What I am trying to do is retrieve the last 10 entries in the database (I know the SQL to do this) but would like some help on how best to fire the query i.e. would it be ExecuteNonQuery or something different?

Once I have retrieved the 10 rows of data I want to be able to manipulate certain columns within those different rows, the way I thought I would do this would be to somehow get the data returned from database query into an array? but I do not know how to do this!

Could anyone please give me some advise on how best to proceed in this matter or point me in the direction of some good websites?

Oracle 11G and IIS 7.0

Hello .... I have an application server with Windows Server 2008, IIS 7 and Oracle Data Provider 11G. The website was set up. NET 2008 has made reference to the oracle, and to run from the application working properly executes the SQL without problem, but to make the creation of a website The IIS 7, and test its functionality, displays the following error

Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.Web, Version = 2.111.6.20' or one of its dependencies. The system can not find the file specified.

The problem may be a compatibility between the version of Oracle 11G and IIS 7.0, I do not know if there is an additional component to the IIS 7.0 can recognize the version of Oracle as a provider of data? Please I am attentive to their solutions .... Thank you

Insert not inserting to Oracle db

Hi,

I am just trying to learn ASP.NET but have run into a problem when attempting to insert data into my database.

I am using Oracle 10g Express Edition, Visual Studio 2005 and the code is in C#.

Here is the code I am using to call the insert statement;

I have created a function that retrieves data from the database OK which is displayed in a grid view, but when I run the insert nothing is inserted into the database. I don't get any errors and I'm confident that the connection to DB is OK as I have already been able to retrieve data as mentioned, I just dont know if there is something I am missing such as a commit for example? Have looked on the web and tried it a couple of different ways but still can't find a solution.

Any help would be gratefully received.

I had the same issue when upgrading a project from Asp.net 1.1 to Asp.net 2.0

The report was built in crystal Reports XI however when I included it in my Asp.net 2.0 project I got this error.

The solution for me was to reinstall crystal http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/service_packs/crystal_reports_en.asp

I installed Crystal Reports XI Release 2 and Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET 2005

When installing Crystal Reports XI Release 2 I did a custom install. In this custom install I selected anything that related to oracle.

I'm not 100% sure why I needed to do all this but all I know is that the project ran in Visual Studio 2005 after I had completed this.

Hope this helps anyone who might be unfortunate enough to be getting this error
