Hi all,

@Freakyuno, I think what Chak means (and I also would like to know) is between ATLAS as a CTP and AJAX.NET, what are the differences if any?

I'm aware that AJAX.NET is ATLAS in release form. Some developers like me, might have worked on a few projects with ATLAS, knowing the technology was considered a preview of technology later to be implemented.

I'm interested in learning, from my peers, what changes or pitfalls to avoid when trying to move my ATLAS inspired projects over to AJAX.NET.

I urgently want a help from you guys, please help me. My issue is as follows.

I have several forms in my project, some are data entry, some are search, some are datagrid with paging. My requirement is all this forms should work in ajax mode by default. And if javascript is not enabled in client browser, then it should automatically postback as normal asp.net server postback.

How to implement it?

Hi,

I am facing problem with Dot net and VB dll which i added for reference with dotnet web projects.The VB dll has been interop and its inside the Bin folder. When trying to call the methods from the vb dll( Security), its throwing following error :

Unable to cast COM object of type 'Example.SecurityClass' to interface type 'Example._Security'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{1186165A-3E15-4986-8142-FV8848192929}' failed due to the following error: Error loading type library/DLL. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80029C4A (TYPE_E_CANTLOADLIBRARY)).

Can anyone help us on this ?

Hi,

I am learning JSON and JayRock. I am trying to find whether I would be successful at using these things along with ATLAS in my project consistently.

It would be great if someone can clear my doubts in this process.

1. I saw JayRock demo and I was surprised by how client-side calls JayRock services. It returns dataset, data tables and many more important objects that ASP.NET developer would love to be returned asynchronously. It sounds stupid but once a dataset object that I want to bind to a gridview arrives in JavaScript, how do I bind it from JavaScript code?

2. Do these technologies interfere with ATLAS and normal ASP.NET page lifecyle?

3. What are some of the places where I can use JayRock? Is it really powerful concept?

Appreciate your help.

Dojo tools and asp.net, can you plug in through an ashx file?

Hi All

I'm working for a company that are asking me to use dojo for a web application. They are exposing their .net back end with a REST webservice that is delivering and accepting json. It's got me wanting to use dojo for a web application of mine but I'm struggling to figure how I can do this without having to build a webservice. I don't want to make my methods publicly available by a webservice. I'm on a massive learning curve with all this as my javascript knowledge is not too hot. Can I ask, would creating a http handler (.ashx file) be the way to go if I get the ashx to return json from my class methods? If so would anyone know how to call these from dojo on the page? I want to pull away from ATLAS as it seems a lot more clunky than dojo. The whole reason the company I am working for don't want me to use asp.net and ATLAS is because they need super performance and so far the reduced code bloat that asp.net puts in the html markup - gotta say off some brief examples it's looking good so far. Has anyone managed to plug the two together some how and can you provide any examples to get me going?

Incidentally, whilst I've mentioned 'performance' is there any way of changing the way asp.net handles naming of controls? I had a page that I had some naming conventions and then when I looked at the html output there was some ridiculously long client id's. Changing just ONE control from 'PlaceHolder1' to 'ph1' reduced my page by 4k. I can't imagine what the saving would be if I did this for all controls. Thing is it's nice to have naming conventions for when you are coding such as 'AddressTextBox1'. Is there no way of getting asp.net to rename this to a minimum value such as 'txt1' or something when running a build?

Problem with Display Date or any Data in Textbox having Masked Edit Extender

Hello,

I have a web page in C# , in which I have a text box and the masked edit extender. So i will enter the date and click save it in the database in the form of (mm/dd/yyyy).

So the Main problem is when i fetch the date from the database and store it in the text box, it is not storing, that is, no data is showing, that is, text box is remaining empty. It is working for all the other text boxes normally and they don't have the masked edit extenders. I am not getting what to do with this problem. So if any body has the solution for this problem then please help me.

You can use the OnClientItemSelected attribute to call a javascript function (which can store the ID somewhere, like a hidden field for example).

I haven't managed to solve the HTML styling either though. We're trying to highlight the search terms in bold using span or strong tags, but have found that the AutoCompleteExtender control is escaping any HTML we send back.

Anyone figured this out?

i want to develop an application which needs replace an amount of text or adding new text in a tif image.I am using a third party component to do this.So my task will be accomplished by getting x and y coordinate values.

Can any body please help me.

Suppose if i move the mouse pointer to top of the image there will be two labels which should display the x - coordinate value and y-coordinate value of the cursor place.
