Re: REST Client in 3.5 - Simple example required
Here is a way. First install REST Starter Kit Preview 2 and reference your project to Microsoft.Http.dll and Microsoft.Http.Extensions.dll using Microsoft.Http; string baseAddress = "http://exmaple.com/Service.svc/"; // Service Base Address string path="exposedUriTemplate"; //the Exposed UriTemplate for your interface HttpClient client = new HttpClient(baseAddress); HttpResponseMessage message = null; //use HttpContentExtensions to create Http Content, can also use HttpContent

Re: collection service the 'EditLink' string in JSON not pretty !
Thank you! Yavor, You mean we can not change this? And when I consume the service in Ajax using XMLHttpRequest, the ResponseText still includes \/ . How did you do that? Thanks in advance. Allen

Re: collection service the 'EditLink' string in JSON not pretty !
Thanks Yavor, I've got it. But i still expect the JSON response gets normal, hoping MS will concern this small problem.

Re: how to get Username for the Service to test...
First it is very strange why you need the credentials . Your login name is Administrator, right? Seemingly not wrong with the username, maybe with your IIS, im not sure. You can try running your service in VS to see if any problem?

collection service the 'EditLink' string in JSON not pretty !
In all JSON returns of my collection services, the char "/" in the 'EditLink' string changes to "\/" (it is '\' and '/', not "V"), are yours the same? It does not look pretty. Anyone knows why and has any idea how to make it back to '/'?

Re: Starter Kit Template is Read-Only?
Well, the screencast you were watching was using Starter Kit Preview 1 (anyway it is not the Preview 2 on the Codeplex now). In Preview 2, the service class inherits from the default ICollectionService<Item> in the sevicebase file which is compiled to the dll we install. So, you can not modify it. :)

Re: wcf rest collection - uri template
Sorry, I have not seen an example using self-defined templates except the defaults in Starter Kit 2. If you want to use your own UriTemplates, I think you can try in this way. 1. delete the default svc file and related code file. 2. add a new WCF Service item (3 files will be added, here suppose they are IService.cs, Service.svc and Service.svc.cs) 3. edit the content is the three files. IService.cs using System.ServiceModel; using System.ServiceModel.Web; namespace CollectionService { [ServiceContract

Re: wcf rest collection - uri template
The kit uses the default ServiceContract "ICollectionService<ITem>" where you modify your OperationContract. But it is compiled into Microsoft.ServiceModel.Web.dll. So you can not modify the default service contract. You just need to add another service contract in your project, and put in your operation contract including the template. Don't forget to use this service contract by making the service inherit to it. Allen Wang

Re: UriTemplate Shouldn't Match Querystring but Does
So did i find, it just check the segment before '?' . Therefore, we can not use multiple templates with different query strings in one ServiceContract such as: 1. scribbles?title={title} ; 2. scribbles?color={color} . But they can be merged to one template like "scribbles?title={title}&color={color}" , which can be used to handle http calls like "scribble?title=scribble 1" or "scribble?color=red" .
