Re: ASP.Net forms authentication problem bypassing for safe content
In an effort to close the loop on this conversation and hopefully help someone else that finds they are in this situation I am posting the resulting issue that was causing this. Something to be aware of when working on a large project with several developers working in parallel. Someone on the team and introduced this problem by adding a response.redirect in the Session_Start of the global.asax file. The redirect returned the user to the logon page. The way I was finally able to determine where it

Re: Access Denied whhhyyyyy!
Thanks for the info, though this is running on a hosting provider and I don't think they allow full trust. I did get closer to an answer. The error is coming from a method call in a library that is obfuscated. If I replace the library with an un-obfuscated version it works fine. So now I am trying to understand what it is about that obfuscation process that would cause this error. Thanks.

Re: IIS (in some cases) require authentication for Asp.net pages
One other place to check. I use web sites not web application so asp.net compiles my sites in this folder "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files". I have had to at times make sure Network Service has full permission to this location as well.

Re: Access Denied whhhyyyyy!
I did submit a ticket with the hosting company as well, I posted it here because it seemed odd the error would look so strange, as for the access on the server's drive, this site already existed and was just updated so the likelyhood should be much lower but who knows. I thought that if it was something to do with a possible change in security restrictions in the .net framework, this would be the place to find out. Thanks.

Access Denied whhhyyyyy!
Hello All, I am having an issue that is clearly not obvious to me. I have a web application that started out as .net 2.0. Code ran fine, code basically serializes objects into xml strings and stores them in a database. I upgraded it to VS2008 but kept it targeting 2.0. I uploaded the code to the same hosting provider but now I get and Access is Denied error. The error gives me no indication on what is causing it. It performs no tasks that I can see would be considered restricted. I have included

Re: ASP.Net forms authentication problem bypassing for safe content
Thanks for the quick response, can you give me an idea on what I should look for? The used very similar code in VS 2005 and it worked perfectly, so I wonder if it is something new in .net 3.5/VS 2008. Like web.config changes. Any thing jump out off the top of your head? Thanks.

Re: ASP.Net forms authentication problem bypassing for safe content
Hello guru_sarkar, Can you explain to my why I would need to add this? if I click on the forgot password link on the log on page, I get to the forgot password (this does not require me to authenticate, so the web.config appears to be working). It is only if I try to access the link directly or through an email do I get the issue. Thanks.

ASP.Net forms authentication problem bypassing for safe content
Hello, I am running into a problem with ASP.Net forms authentication protection that I know I have not had before. The site is protected in the web.config by disallowing anonymous users and directing the users to a login page. The login page is in a sub folder called UserManagement. In the UserManagement folder I have a web.config file that only contains this: < system.web > < authorization > < allow users= "?" /> </ authorization > </ system.web > In the same

Make sure that whatever user is used in your app pool alsow has permissions to the physical folder as well.

Re: Using Email as UserName
HI Maybe i've missed something but what happens if you have two people with the same name?
What does that matter? The Guid will ensure uniqueness.
