Re: AD login authentication but SQL roles?
To write your own role provider, you may follow this article, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8fw7xh74.aspx

Re: Active Directory
I guess that problem you met is this function returns false always. Am I right? If so, you can add some tracing code to see where comes the false value. If there is any exception raised, we may move on to that.

Re: How to use Popup Extender with Thread
The problem is that you cannot "push" a notification from the server by default. So the initial action must be done on the browser side. Therefore, using Thread on the server side won't help.

Re: Trying to Connect to Informix from asp.net
As Informix is a thirdparty database, you can check IBM materials about how to connect to it via .NET. Obviously ADO.NET is so flexible that other database vendors provide relevant libraries for ADO.NET, so as IBM, http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/techarticle/dm-0510durity/

Re: IHttpModule - Start Event fires, but End does not
Can you check the session mode? If this session is persistant, then it will not end as you expected.

Re: AD login authentication but SQL roles?
It is technically possible if you have correct set up in SQL Server. By default, SQL Server does not store roles in a format that matches AD, so maybe you need to write your own Role provider to query roles from your own role table in SQL Server.

Re: Active Directory Authentication Without Loggin In
Did you use Forms authentication for this web application already? If so, please turn it off. Then change IIS authentication from anonymous to Windows Integrated authentication for this application. You may still find some users get prompt in IE, as this article shows, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258063

Re: Why is there an ASP.NET account on my machine?
Well, simply disable the account is enough to ensure you don't need to reinstall .NET framework again when you want to do some ASP.NET development . ASPNET account is only used by aspnet_wp.exe in IIS 5 (or IIS 5 compatible mode for IIS 6). If you use IIS 6 and above where worker process name is w3wp.exe, you can disable ASPNET even if you do ASP.NET development.
