  Microsoft designed it so this class will install automatically if you are creating a basic website but if you are creating a web application which is what ASP.NET was created for then you have to find some way to create an instance of this class on your own. There does not seem to be any useful tutorials or any easy answer to this problem. All I have found are a bunch of people giving links to sites that don't really explain anything and request that you download an application to try to fix

  this link installed something on my computer that does not seem to run. I'm guessing that adding the ProfileCommon object is an extremely complex task otherwise we wouldn't need to install an application to add it to our project. Just seems like a lot of work for something that Microsoft claims is "automatic"
