Re: Formview and EditItemTemplate Newbie question
I tried the ModeChange and ModeChanged events, but evidently the edit controls have not been created yet since when I do a FindControl it returns nothing.

Re: Formview and EditItemTemplate Newbie question
Ok, I think I have found what I need, which is to put the code in the FormView's DataBound event and check that the FormView is in edit mode and if it is then I can retrieve the controls that I wish to evaluate and/or modify using the FindControl method.

Re: Formview and EditItemTemplate Newbie question
Maybe I should have been more specific in my example. When the user wants to edit the FormView data, I want to check the value of TextBox1 (which is a display field and readonly and is in the EditItemTemplate - not a standalone textbox) , and if it is a certain value I want to set TextBox2 to readonly. I think the FindControl method will work to do what I want, but I'm not sure which FormView event I should be putting the code in when the user goes into edit mode.

Formview and EditItemTemplate Newbie question
I have a FormView and have configured the EditItemTemplate, which is working fine. What I need to do is modify a control depending on the value of another bound control. For example, when editing a record, I want to set the readonly property of a textbox based on the value of another textbox on the form. Can someone point me in the right direction how to access the edit template controls and also what event I need to put the code in. TIA

Re: Multiple validation controls for a single text box question
Knew it had to be something simple - thanks. Also discovered the ValidationSummary control which may be a better solution. Thanks again. Daryl

Multiple validation controls for a single text box question
Hi - newbie question here. I have to use 2 validation controls for a single text box, and have put them next to each other after the text box. If the first validation fails, the error message is displayed just fine next to the text box. However, if the 2nd validation control fails, the error message is not displayed next to the text box, but far to the right with a lot of space in between (the white space is where the first error message would be displayed). How do I get the 2nd validation error

Re: Installaion Problem with VWD 2008 Express
Thank you Mikhail! While my TEMP variable didn't contain a backslash at the end, I did have a user variable set up for TEMP that pointed to \TEMP so I changed it to point to C:\TEMP and that solved the problem. I did a search on the 'counted_ptr cannot apply operator' problem, but didn't find the TEMP reference. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Daryl

Since I haven't gotten any responses about my installation problem in this forum, does anyone have any recommendations for another forum where I might be able to get help on this? Thanks. Daryl
