  Don't know which tab control you are using, but I'am always using AJAX Control toolkit's tab control. There are no problems with it in IE, FF, Chrome and Opera

  If you wnat to do it with javascript only you should to overload some of events: or ontextchanged or onclick (submit button) - then check if startdate textbox has a value and show alert message.

  Visual studio always trying to explain where the problem is. In your case the message "The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases" telling you that you CAN NOT work with items collection during data binding. After that - you can but NOT while binding.

  All you need is to create in your client-side application a web reference to your web service. Then you can use it like some local variable and call to all methods.

  You can try to use onunload javascript event (that supported in HTML 4.0) - every time that event has been fired - make some asynchronious call to some method that will sign out an active user.

  If you are converting strings to integers - look if any of these string are really represents numbers. May be some of them are empty or represents chars. Also you can try Ineger.TryParse() method that will tell you where the problem is

  I understand but the problem is that T-SQL does not support one of the most usefull statements of MySQL - LIMIT, so the only way to select the data from x record up to y record - is to use a 'with' satement (like in my example) or create a temprorary table (in the same way)
