DynamicServiceMethod of PopupControlExtender does not work with IIS7
I have the following strange problem: A PopupControlExtender using DynamicServiceMethod to populate a control's content works perfectly with the development server that comes with VS2008 and IIS5.1 that comes with Windows XP. However, it does not work with IIS7 that comes Windows Vista. It appears that it never calls the web service. When a typo is intentionally added to the DynamicServiceMethod property, the development server or IIS5.1 generates an error, but IIS7 does nothing but clears the

Re: DynamicServiceMethod of PopupControlExtender does not work with IIS7
Here is an even more puzzling behavior when I use Firefox: When the target control is clicked, the IIS 5.1 served page behaves exactly as expected - displaying dynamic content in the DynamicControl, but the IIS 7 served page displays the entire page in the dynamic control.

Button in a Gridview with PopupControlExtender does not post back
Hi all, I am wondering if this is what supposed to be. The PopupControlExtender has been added to a button in a GridView. The pop-up control works exactly as expected - it shows up as the button is clicked. However it seems that clicking the button does not generate postback anymore. Handlers have been added for two events: Click and Command. Neither is called when the button is clicked. Any tip will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Button in a Gridview with PopupControlExtender does not post back
Thank you very much for your elucidation and the suggested solution, Mina! PopupControlExtender seems not to have the Show function you mentioned. Did I misunderstand that part?
and in the click function of the new button call a javascript function that calls the OnClientClick function of the target button of the popup extender.
Hi Mina, I am implementing your first suggestion by adding the following to the click function of the new button: Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(typeof(string), "Popup", "document.getElementById(\"" + bt.ClientID + "\").click()", true); Unfortunately I

Re: Button in a Gridview with PopupControlExtender does not post back
Hi Mina, It is working now. I use RegisterStartupScript instead of RegisterClientScriptBlock to guarantee the script is executed after all the controls are loaded Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(typeof(string), "Popup", "document.getElementById(\"" + bt.ClientID + "\").click()", true); Thank you very much for all the help. Not only has this solved the problem, but also taught me some fundametals of how Popup extender works.

Re: Where are all the connection strings
Hi Jian, Thank you very much! Yes, many of them are the obsolete connections in Server Explorer that I have ignored for a long time. I assume they are stored in binary files so they cannot be found by text search of the entire hard drive. I noticed most of them were automatically generated during data source configuration. That is a surprise.

Re: Where are all the connection strings
No. Everything is local. I also searched registry and could not find any of them.

Re: Where are all the connection strings
Here is an example of the searched strings: "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=MyServerName". It seems to take more than 10 hours to search my C drive. I figure this is normal for Vista.
