Re: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException on Web Application load
As a temporary solution I set the <UseIIS> attribute in csproj files to false. IIS 5.1 has taught me to be reticent in just uninstalling and reinstalling IIS. However this morning I uninstalled and reinstalled IIS 7.0, with a reboot afterwards. My Web and Windows Apps and VS2008 can all access IIS properly again. (With no noticeable side-effects) I can only guess something became corrupt. My IIS backups didn't go back far enough in 'C:\inetpub\history' though, so I will never know

Re: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException on Web Application load
An MSFT recommended implementing some exception handling, so I tried to open one of the broken Web Applications individually from File->Open Web Site->Local Internet Information Server. It says I must install all the of the following: Internet Information Services IIS 6 Metabase and IIS 6 Configuration Compatibility ASP.NET And run as Admin Which I have done, under Control Panel.

Re: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException on Web Application load
Thanks Mikhail, I have set up setup devenv.exe to run as Administrator. Your other posts mentioned looking in the csproj to verify the virtual directory path, looks ok. Is there anything else you can recommend? Why did the web projects just stop working?

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException on Web Application load
Hello, I am running Vista Business with IIS 7.0 and VS2008 Team Edition. I have been opening our project in VS2008 that includes a number of Web Applications (all target Framework 2.0) fine for weeks now. However today, I opened the solution and the projects opened except for the Web projects. It pops-up with a message saying System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException.... I can't reload the Web Apps. I have IIS 6.0 Compatibility Features installed, I've looked in the project files to confirm

Re: access same IsolatedStorage from different Assemblies/Applications
it took me a while to figure this out. i created a separate class project that has a static method that retrieves the Machine Store for Assembly method, i then strong name this assembly under signing section and release mode it. i then use this dll in disparate applications that require access to mutual IsolatedStorage. if anybody has an easier method, they're welcome to share. thanks.

access same IsolatedStorage from different Assemblies/Applications
Hello, Is it possible for me to create an IsolatedStorageFile that can be accessed from different Applications (Windows App and a Web App) The following GetStore overload looks most promising, but i'm not sure what parameter to give it for applicationIdentity.... isf = IsolatedStorageFile .GetStore( IsolatedStorageScope .Machine, object applicationIdentity); Would creating a separate dll with the IsolatedStorage logic and then putting this dll in both projects work? what would happen if i shipped

Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting namespace is missing from GAC with VS2008 Team Edition Installed
Somebody please explain to me why I can't find the Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting namespace in the GAC, this book I'm going through tells me I need the Team Suite installed. Which I thought I had? I've got the VS2008 Team Edition installed and I have the Test and Analyze menu structures available to me, but not the namespace. Do I have the right installation? Do I need to download something? What am I missing? fyi, I have never installed any Beta products on this machine

Re: Must have a <head runat="server"> Error
I'm spitting out the page via xml, so I can't add the runat="server" at design time, is there some way I can add it in the OnPreInit method maybe??
