Re: What exactly does EnableViewState=false do on a Button Control?
OK, so you don't think EnableViewState=True will solve my problem? This is getting serious - at least once a month I have a customer call in and say they cannot submit their order because there is no button. Who knows how many customers don't even call in and just abandon their cart. I got a little more information about the computer that caused the issue - it is a Windows XP machine with Internet Explorer (although I don't know what version of IE). I have tested the site thoroughly on

Re: What exactly does EnableViewState=false do on a Button Control?
I understand that the "state" is stored on a label or a textbox control. The values of those controls would normally be lost during a postback. But a button can render as an HTML element directly and a postback shouldn't affect it. So what state is there to store?

What exactly does EnableViewState=false do on a Button Control?
I have been having an intermittent problem where the submit button disappears on my shopping cart under certain (rare) conditions. However, I have no idea what browser/cookie/javascript settings those particular conditions are when the button doesn't appear. I took a look at the code and something jumped out at me - the EnableViewState property is set to false for the submit button. While I am 90% sure that removing this value from the markup will resolve the problem, since I am unable to reproduce

Re: Confirm Delete on LinkButton control not working in FireFox
Argh - I found the problem. I am using a .js file and FireFox was caching an old copy without my function in it. I had the same issue with my CSS (which was much more noticable) and when I fixed one, it fixed the other. CTRL + F5 did the trick. So, this is not an issue like I thought it was.

Confirm Delete on LinkButton control not working in FireFox
I have read everyting I can on how to implement a confirm delete function and almost all of it deals with using a template field with a linkbutton (or regular button) inside of a GridView, DataGrid, DetailsView, etc. I have a scenario where I just want to put a confirm on a regular link button (for "empty shopping cart"). The confirmation works in IE, but not in FireFox. I also have a confirm delete on each row (using an asp:Button inside of a template field) and it works fine in both IE

Re: GridView with Floating DIV Layer in Each Row - Possible?
Thanks for the reply. I tried doing something like this, but as I have 3 columns that I need to line up with their headers in order to make any sense and also I have 3 buttons and a help link to put in the floating section, I was unable to get the result I wanted. Also, the buttons won't go to the bottom of the row if you do it this way, and there doesn't seem to be a way to do so unless you know the height of the row ahead of time (which I don't). What I am looking for is more along

GridView with Floating DIV Layer in Each Row - Possible?
I am trying to make a GridView control with buttons along the bottom of each row that perform a function on that row, rather than creating another column or columns for the buttons. The primary reason for this is because I am very limited on horizontal space. I made a mockup of what I am trying to do in PhotoShop. You can see the image here: http://www.shadstorhaug.com/ShoppingCart.gif . Basically, I would like to create a DIV layer that spans 3 of the columns and that floats along the bottom of

Re: Problems with ClientID on Composite Control
Hi Andy, I am just curious why you suggest to always add the controls and use the visible property to control rendering. I am building a composite control to organize some old code and make it more manageable. An example of where the control will be placed is on the following page: http://www.shuttercontractor.com/products/louver-shutters/vinyl-shutters/standard-sized-shutters/alcoa-AL-ML.aspx . The dropdowns are automatically generated and populated based on values in the database. The control can

Re: 'CreateResourceBasedLiteralControl' is not a member of 'ASP.homemasterpage_master'.
Ok, I think your reply has put me on the right track, but I need some assistance finding a solution. I recently made several changes to a project that I had previously upgraded from .NET 1.1 to .NET 2.0. The upgrade itself created several resource files that were empty. During the last batch of updates to the project, I deleted the resource files to try to make the project more readable. I didn't have any issues with removing these files until I tried to deploy the site from my development workstation
