  I too have had issues with the new validation, and was hoping to use the RegisterForEventValidation. I am using a datalist control and as I sadly found out, the name of the clickable control is set at run time. Additionally, it is populated based on parameters provided in a querystring. I did not see away to dynamically add parameters to the asp:SqlDataSource to use the solution suggested here.
