Custom GridView PostBack Events being Lost with ScriptManager.RegisterScriptDescriptors
So I've written a Custom GridView control that extends the GridView class in ASP.NET 2.0. Among other things, this custom GridView implements IScriptControl & follows the ScriptControl pattern including the call to ScriptManager.RegisterScriptControl during PreRender and then ScriptManager.RegisterScriptDescriptors during Render. Ever since the ScriptControl implementation was added to my custom GridView, a strange problem has arisen. The problem pertains to a custom DataControlField that

Web Service Proxy as a Singleton - Good or Bad Architecture?
So I've got a web application that relies heavily on Web Services. I have Web Service wrapper classes that contain a single instance of a Web Service Proxy used to make calls and then logging is performed around those calls. Now to my question: I'm using static singleton instances of those Web Service wrapper classes so esentially my Web Application is making all of its Web Service calls through a series of single instance Web Service Proxy objects. I thought this could be good from a performance

Re: Gridview template field control disappears
I too have run into this same problem and it's a real pain! Using a DataGrid this is no problem, but now is failing for a GridView. It seems odd that the newer, more robust control has this problem. It also seems weird that the template column, which remains static and is never added or removed, is still affected by other columns. Does adding/removing columns from a GridView invalidate the ViewState for the entire grid? Seems rather silly.

Re: RegisterPostBackControl is not working
Agreed. I have a very similar issue I'm trying to solve and I'm convinced that RegisterPostBackControl doesn't work like it should. Microsoft, can we get a response and/or confirmation of this issue?

Re: Do not install this release
I've got a question regarding the compatibility validators: I've got a page that is being built dynamically/programatically with controls and validators and thus I'm not using ASP tags. Unless I'm missing something, the tagMapping has no effect on the controls in this scenario since there clearly there are no ASP tags involved. So is there another solution to mapping control types for this scenario or do I have to directly use the Compatibility Validators in code until the fix is released via Windows

Re: CalendarExtender bad performance in a datalist
dedquilang: I was having the same issue as everyone else. The page I was working on had 3 instances of the CalendarExtender and it seems like the page rendered right away but IE was still processing some clientscript. However, I went into the web.config and set the debug="false" in the compilation section and it performs a lot better. Does anyone else have any more insight on this? Thanks. Wow, you're right! Setting debug=false in the Web.config made a HUGE difference. Thanks for the tip!
