  We also broke down some of our larger applications - not a bad idea anyway to minimize viewstate anyway. Anything that wasn't upgraded to 3.5 we've backed off of 2008 and went back to 2005. We'll be checking here regularly to know when it is safe to try 2008 again. I already miss some of the nicer things in 2008 like the improved object picker.

  Is there another way to track this issue? The lack of a work around is killing us here. Changes that should take an hour are taking days,

  Thanks for the update Mikhail. I love VS and the design improvements have me very excited. I am surprised though that problems that are so easy to recreate made it through testing before VS 2008 was RTM. I guess I'll continue to struggle through until a patch or workaround is made -- the lag between typing and screen updates will give me time to contemplate more important things in life like love, family, God, and why my company doesn't cater in lunch or beverages.

  I'll add my name to the list. I have noticed that after I did this ( http://codeeleven.blogspot.com/2007/12/visual-studio-2008-and.html ), it was a little better. I then noticed that evertime I got a pause or a lag that the solution explorer would flash like it was rebuilding. I tried closing solution explorer and it is MUCH MUCH better.

• CollaspiblePanel with Disappearing Bar

  I have 4 CollapsiblePanels on a page each hiding a gridview. I find that if I expand any one of the panels with a at least 5 or six lines in the gridview, one of my CollapsiblePanel header bars disappear. I've tested this from a handful of IE6 browsers and it happens. Strange thing is on the 1 IE 7 browser, I've tested it on it doesn't happen. That last bit may be a red herring -- again I only have on ie7 install to test on. Jason

• Collapsing Panel Flashes open when the page is rendered

  I have the four collapsing panels that are on the opening screen of a ASP.NET 2.0 aplication I have built. When the page in first rendered in the browser these panels initially flash open then closed as I would expect then to be. Not a show stopper but a bit annoying. Especially since it also happens everytime there is a postback or callback on the page. Any ideas? Jaso

  Nevermind -- It dawned on me that the hover popup control is within the item template for the gridview and could therefore evaluate data items. I used it to pass the row ID in the rowcommand event handler.

  I have a Gridview with HoverMenuExtender justlike the example in the toolkit, but can't figure out how to get the row ID -- tried e.commandarguement for the RowCommand event, but haven't had any luck. Thanks in advance, Jason
