Re: custom ASP.NET web form vs InfoPath
Thanks for your reply, I found it is really easy to export an Infopath form to PDF file. Microsoft provides an add-in for this funtionality. Do you know if it is possible to add a signature pad to an InfoPath form?

Re: custom ASP.NET web form vs InfoPath
Hi PavanOIrish, Thanks for the reply, I spent the whole day today on the web searching for the topic but it seems there is no easy way to make InfoPath captures mouse signature. In that case, I may stick to the old way of using ASP.NET web forms. One of my original reasons to use InfoPath is to allow non-technical staff here to create forms so I don't have to do all of them. From what I can see after trying it out for several hours, with InfoPath, it is very very easy to get started with creating

Re: "The base class includes the field 'WebUserControl1', but its type (common_WebUserControl) is not compatible with the type of control (ASP.common_webusercontrol_ascx)"
Hi, have you tried the possible solution suggested by Maduka? Here it is: Hi try to create a new usercontrol in vs.net 2005. It will create as CodeBehind not as CodeFile. I guess CodeBehind is the suitable property in the vs.net 2005. CodeFile willl work with converted .net projects(vs.net 2003 to vs.net 2005). But when you try to add new web form to converted project and try to use an user control of vs.net 2003 version, this error occurs. Rgds Maduka

custom ASP.NET web form vs InfoPath
Hi, I am just assigned a project to make a paper based process to be web based. What I need to do is to allow user to fill out an online form and sign it using his/her mouse. The data entered and the signature needs to be later retrieved as a PDF file. So, I've created a working prototype using ASP.NET webforms and a third party PDF library ( iTextSharp), along with a mouse signature capture tool that I purchased. The prototype works fine. But my concern is, I may need to extend this application

Re: how to find out ClientID of a control inside a UpdatePanel
you can use like this var mytextbox = document.getelementById("<%=myTextBox.ClientID%>") ;
Hey rmaiya: Thanks for the reply...I've seen similar solution posted on the forum...but it seems it only works if I put js code in the same file as the .aspx file

how to find out ClientID of a control inside a UpdatePanel
Hi everyone, there are many threads for this topic but seems none of them works for me. I have a TextBox control inside a UpdatePanel, and I want to update its text in my js script. I have hard time to reference the TextBox in my js script using its ClientID because the ClientID is modified by the UpdatePanel. One workaround I can think of is to use a hidden field outside any Container to hold the ClientID of the TextBox, and I can find out the ClientID in js code thru this hidden field. Clearly

Re: why Form Based Authentication doesnt work properly if cookies disabled
It makes sense to me that they have to match, but I didn't see it in the documentation. What happens if you set them both to use the URI? Does it work then? I found this, and it diagrams out the communication and relationship between IIS and ASP.NET. Maybe it will help shed some light? http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa302388.aspx
no, it does the same thing ( session loss ) everytime I submit a new request. I did a bit more searches

Re: why Form Based Authentication doesnt work properly if cookies disabled
I wonder if the auto-detect isn't working...what happens if you try to use the URI for the session and the auth? Does it work if it's totally cookieless? Also, when it's cookieless, you can't do things like Response.Redirect, if I recall correctly, as it loses the token in the URI.
I enabled cookies and find out that authentication works properly only when 'cookieless' property for both 'sessionState' and 'authentication'
