How to configure the .NET2005 deployment to setup a web in a directory not under IIS
I've build a deployment for a web app, but some of the subdirectories in our web have special security requirements and access permissions Therefore we want the main web virtual directory to point across to a "Program Files" subdirectory instead of installing the aspx's and dlls into inetpub/wwwroot Anyone know how to do this ? thanks

Re: Unrecognized tag prefix or device filter 'asp'
This bug is still occurring in vs 2005 service pack 1. In my case opening master pages didnt help. But opening web.config and making a whitespace change to it, then clean solution and rebuild, did make the problem go away. None of my master pages are present in web.config, in fact I've never made a change to web.config

Re: Weird Error: Cannot create/shadow copy 'Microsoft.Web.Preview' when that file already exists
My theory at the moment is that the asp.net web server (or IIS if you are not using the asp web server) is holding onto the DLLs of the project. If you run your mouse over the system tray before pressing f5 to run, any left over asp web server instances close themselves and the problem then doesnt seem to happen. Will update again if I find out more...

Adding content while debugging
Asp.net 2005 "edit and continue" is good, but I never could fathom out why parts of the project have to be locked while a page is fully loaded and sat there in the browser doing nothing. After all, nothing is executing once a page is fully loaded, so why couldn't the dlls and pages etc be released by the web server process, and reloaded on the next page refresh ? Anyway, I was wondering if anyone on this forum has found a way of adding content, changing pages, recompiling projects, using the "asp

Re: Weird Error: Cannot create/shadow copy 'Microsoft.Web.Preview' when that file already exists
I have the same problem. Very annoying. If you clean the solution and then build it goes away, otherwise it occurs roughly half the time Will report back if I find anything out..

Re: Javascript debugging in VS 2003 ?
Yes, you need to do the above. You can debug any javascript by inserting the debugger; line in your code. Or you can do Edit > Script Debugger > Break at Next Statement but this is no good if you have mouseover/mousein/mouseout events. Break pointing a line in the IDE with F9 doesn't always work, so I tend to use the debugger; statement instead. HTH

Inheriting from a base class in child pages
Hi Folks I have a master page which inherits my own base class : "public class common", in common.vb, and the common class Inherits System.Web.UI.MasterPage. Common creates a couple of extra public props, variables etc which can be utilised from the master page. Now thats working great. The extra properties and backend server connection in the common class are accessible from the master page and, with the help of the MasterType directive, are also accessible from the child aspx page. But to make
