Re: GetPostBackEventReference() inconsistentcy causes partial postback to fail
Found the problem. This is an XHTML compliant issue and should probably be included in the release notes. The problem is that UpdatePanels do not work properly if <xhtmlConformance mode="Legacy"/> is in your Web.config. Ajax script has problems unless server controls are rendered to be XHTML compliant.

Re: Ajax partial postbacks and IE7 = poor performance
The performance seems to have improved with the RTM version.

Re: xhtmlConformance mode="Legacy"
Removing the xhtmlconformance tag is equivalent to <xhtmlConformance mode="Transitional"/> since transitional is the default. Either method results in all pages being rendered in Transitional mode. What we are looking for here is applying Legacy on some pages and Transitional on others.

Re: Ajax RC not working on production server, works on dev machine
I tried restarting IIS and/or rebooting. Did not help. What ended up working is uninstalling Ajax, then deleting the web project from production, then rebooting, then installing Ajax again, and then placing the project back.

Re: UpdatePanel within User Control bug still not fixed in RTM
Well, I changed to <xhtmlConformance mode="Transitional"/> to fix the Ajax behavior but this breaks the validation scripts that the framework now generates. For some reason when you have a ValidationSummary in a UserControl the frame work generates this script: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var ProjectDetails.ascx_ctl00 = document.all ? document.all["ProjectDetails.ascx_ctl00"] : document.getElementById("ProjectDetails.ascx_ctl00"); ProjectDetails.ascx_ctl00.headertext = "The

Re: xhtmlConformance mode="Legacy"
I was wondering the same thing. I just found out that many of the problems I had with Ajax were not bugs but were occuring because I had xhtmlConformance mode="Legacy" set in the Web.config. When I changed this attribute to "Transitional" the Ajax pages started working great but all my legacy pages broke (formating, validators, script errors, etc.). I don't mind making those pages, that I updated to use Ajax, XHTML compliant, but having to fix 200+ pages because a few are using Ajax is a lot to ask

Re: Ajax RC not working on production server, works on dev machine
I unistalled the RC and installed the RTM and still having same problem. When looking at the .dll version between RC and RTM they look the same. Did they bump up the version for the RTM or is my old RC stuck in my GAC?
