Dollar Sign with other Special Characters in Encrypted Password Causes Problems with Password Recovery
I have found what appears to be an undocumented behavior in the ASP.NET Membership Provider. I call this a behavior, and not a bug, because it appears to have been done "on purpose", although I can't tell why. Is this possibly some debug code accidentally left in by the original developers? A few minutes of googling turns of the following related posts: * http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1734130&SiteID=1 * http://forums.asp.net/p/1129383/1785919.aspx The problem

Re: unable to uninstall - MVC Templates not visible
Thanks again for your help Chris. For everyone else's benefit, here are the steps Chris and I went through (via email)...and the final solution: 1. Ran the commands in Chris's post above. They didn't work. 2. Checked the C :\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Web\1033 directory to verify that I had: * MvcWebApplicationProjectTemplate.cs.zip * MvcWebApplicationTestProjectTemplate.cs.zip I did not. 3. Re-downloaded the ASP.NET 3.5 Extensions CTP

Re: unable to uninstall - MVC Templates not visible
ASPNetExt.msi does not exist in the C:\WINDOWS\Installer\ directory. Could this be due to the fact that I uninstalled the ADO.NET Entity Framework 1.0 (Pre-release Version) prior to attempting to uninstall the extensions? Either way, what do I do about it?

unable to uninstall - MVC Templates not visible
I am running a 90 day trial version of Visual Studio 2008 Pro. I installed the ASP.NET 3.5 Extensions CTP, but the MVC templates don't appear in File>New>Project. I attempted to uninstall the extensions (to try reinstalling them) and I get the following message: "A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\ASPNetExt.msi" Can someone help me?

Re: Upload Site to Web Server.
You have ASP.NET? You also need to have a website or virtual directory set up in IIS. Are you able to browse to your HTML pages in the web browser?

Re: Deploying/Maintaining Mulitple Instances of an Application
Thanks, that's a good recommendation for a long-term solution. Unfortunately, it would/will involve a lot of rewriting! I guess that's the way development goes though. I wish we'd had a better handle on what the final product was going to be when we started the project....things like this always seem to change several time mid-development though. Thanks again for your input.

Re: Deploying/Maintaining Mulitple Instances of an Application
I may have to develop a custom tool to get the job done. I was hoping something already existed though.

Re: Deploying/Maintaining Mulitple Instances of an Application
Ok, that makes sense. Don't think it will work in this circumstance. Each instance is not 100% the same. Configuration and the masterpage will differ on each instance. The files that would need to be maintained are the App_Code class files and the .aspx/.aspx.cs pages. Does this make sense?

Deploying/Maintaining Mulitple Instances of an Application
I'm looking for a tool that will help me deploy and maintain multiple instances of the same application on a server. I want to be able to roll out changes easily without having to copy to 200 sites individually. Does anyone know of a tool like this?
