  • Re: What are the Pros and Cons of TheBeerHouse Starter Kit?

There are a couple reasons why there have been no comparisons. First using a Starter Kit is like your first sex. You are only a virgin once. So its hard to compare first sex experiences - nobody has had two. For example all Starter Kits (I presume) show you how to use themes or the role and membership features that are new to 2.0. When you first encounter new features they can seem a little odd or obscure. However after you are acquainted with them for a while they seem "natural" and easy. This is

  • Re: Can't get SQL Server DB in VS 2005

As Cavaradossi says: Vittoria!, Vittoria!, Vittoria! I started pulling stuff off. It occurred to me that it might be McAfee. So I deleted that (McAfee makes deleting their programs pretty hard) and the SQL Server Browser started right up. I can now add a database in VS 2005. This little problem has confounded me for two weeks. Thanks to everyone and beware of McAfee. Pat

Thanks for this hint. It is true that the service SQL Server Browser is not running on my machine. I suspect thata that is the reason I can't see any databases in VS2005. So I tryied to start the service - first from the Configuration Manager and then from the Surface Area Configuration Manager. In both cases I got an error. Next I treid to reload SQL Server. I did so and made up a new instance. Same results. Next I think I will delete everything (all SQL 2005 and SQL2000) and start from scratch

I get two choices in the Add Connection dialog box: The SQL Server Express server The SQL Server 2000 server I have tried refreshing the drop down list. I have tried using the other data sources (OLE, SQL Server

  • Can't get SQL Server DB in VS 2005

I'm stumped. I am trying to create a web site in VS 2005 and SQL Server 2005 justs as I used to in the earlier generation of tools. I have SQL Server 2005 and the SQL Server Management Express. I also have SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition. In VS 2005 in the Server Explorer panel I can see under Data Connections the MDF database files I create. The Web Site Administration Tool creates an MDF file called ASPNETDB.MDF with all the tables and stored procedures needed for membership which is stored
