Re: strip tags in asp.net
Have a look on my own implementation of the PHP's strip_tags function in ASP.NET here -> http://www.codeproject.com/KB/MCMS/htmlTagStripper.aspx

Re: GridView trying to update ReadOnly property on object
Converting the columns into templates worked for me too with very little effort and it seems the sanest of the possible solutions. I would mark tigger95's reply as solution.

Re: MvcToolkit's Checkbox extension method needs rewriting
In the meanwhile I found Rob Conery's blog and a post about the Toolkit where I stated my complaints and he replied very soon to me. Check out http://blog.wekeroad.com/2007/12/05/aspnet-mvc-preview-using-the-mvc-ui-helpers/ and search for "@Andrei" to jump to his answer (sorry no anchor/link directly to his answer).

MvcToolkit's Checkbox extension method needs rewriting
I have not found anywhere a good place for MvcToolkit feedback so I'm writing here. Complaints : 1. The text is rendered directly at the right of the checkbox not within a label for="id". This really sucks from a usability point of view. 2. The checked attribute's value is rendered WITHOUT quoutes (or double quotes) !!! this makes the output not XHTML compliant! This must be taken care of.

Re: Output cache and site monitoring techniques - incompatible?
Thanks anyway for the IIS logs tip. Well it seems that the Application_BeginRequest is triggered for all page requests including those who come from the output cache. So I will do it from there..

Output cache and site monitoring techniques - incompatible?
Hello all, first of all I must mention I've really searched this before posting on this forum using different keywords combinations. My problem : I have enabled output cache to most of my site's pages. Now however I cannot monitor easily the page views on the server side directly. Because when the pages are served from the output cache no code is executed in the ASP.NET application. BESIDES using Google Analytics or other javascript techniques is there any other way to monitor page views

Re: String functions
dageyra: Are there ASP.net equivalents to the PHP string functions, such as -substr -strstr -trim And in ASP, are strings treated as arrays? I have so far been unable to find references on the asp.net site from the ASP.net quickstarts. What are the best ASP.net technical references (i.e., not designed for people starting out in developing web pages) available on the web? let's say you have a string containing "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" string s = "The quick brown fox jumps over
