Re: ASP.NET 2.0, Path Re-Writing, and the dreaded "Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory"
Great explanation (if a bit hard to wrap my brain around). Thanks. And as for your theory on the cookieless sessions, a theory is better than what I had before, so thanks again! Can anyone attest to the fact that adding the UseCookies value will NOT have adverse effects on SEO? That's my primary concern with the method. I can attest to the fact that we have not seen the ".." error even once since implementing the UseCookies fix.

ASP.NET 2.0, Path Re-Writing, and the dreaded "Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory"
When we rolled out the new version of our web site, using ASP.NET 2.0 and a new content management system, we got hit hard with the "Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory" error. Tracing the offending IP addresses showed that the error was almost always produced by a search engine crawler. I spent a about a week googling the error message and finally found this forum post that recommended a web.config fix: http://communityserver.org/forums/t/469081.aspx The fix involves adding the

aspnet_wp / w3wp process hangs cpu
I've been looking all over and can't find an answer on this problem. I'm running ASP 2.0 on XP Pro. I see the same behavior on our 2003 production server. While debugging my logic, I've added some Response.Write commands to my C# code-behind. Everything works great and the output appears. But when I add one more Response.Write, aspnet_wp will shoot up to 50% CPU usage (on my dual proc machine) and hang there. I've let it run for up to five minutes and it never comes free and the page request never

Re: Need help with code in my Content Page
Bump bump. I'm having the exact same problem. I MUST be able to edit the metadata of the HtmlHead from the content page. This is spelled out very clearly in the MSDN library (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnvs05/html/masterpages.asp?frame=true#masterpages_topic8) but it does NOT work in practice. Compiler Error Message: CS0117: 'System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlHead' does not contain a definition for 'Metadata'
