    As ShaneBauer pointed out ASP.Net MVC is not a replacement for WebForms its only an alternative.... just another option in ASP.Net Development.... Options are a good thing!!! And most importantly its a MSFT supported framework. For those of us who have ever been employed by companies where that is a requirement.... having a Supported proper MVC framework is a good thing

    If all you have is VS2005 and 08 is not an option (which will end up being the case for me as well.... YAY!!! for working in Non-profit and having $0.00 for useful tools) then you can Give MonoRail a try as well.... Its very much like ASP.Net MVC (or should I say ASP.Net MVC is very much like MonoRail)

    Just as an added point of info. This is more a question about Linq2SQL and not about MVC. Mike's answer should solve your problem. Edit:// you may want to take a look at ADO.Net Entities . As well as read this . LinqToEntities may be more of what you are looking for.

  • Re: what about using cassini for unit testing?

    I would add to that being able to simply mock everything for unit-testing does make for a much cleaner continuous integration story. No need for the build server to have VS installed etc. Plus now with the MVC dlls being Bin-deployable this gets even cleaner and nicer.
