Re: Help with config file for DLL
Found solution here: http://forums.asp.net/thread/1275158.aspx In a nutshell, settings.settings stores connectionstring for Designed Typed DataSet, but this connectionstring name can be retreived from the web.config.

Re: Help with config file for DLL
I have the same question. My class library is being compiled as a dll and although it uses a app.config and Properties/settings.settings for storing the connection string, when I reference this dll from a ASP.NET application I'm confused on how the connection string gets loaded? Is it compiled into the dll? Is it magically reading the original config files?

Re: where to specify connection string in 3-tier webapplication
I thought about it. I am going to initialize the DAL objects with a "client" provided connection string on construction. (The client being the app that is using the DAL library--which is a dll.) Both a console and asp.net web application can take care of assigning the DAL the connectionstring, while the DAL will do the rest. Does this sound correct?

Re: where to specify connection string in 3-tier webapplication
I am in this same situation, my DAL layer is a dll. So where does the DAL store the parameters once it gets initialized in Application_OnStart? Is it in a custom config file? An app.config? I cannot seem to get my dll to read the app.config file. I do not want to hard code the act of getting the connection strings from a web.config because I am using this DAL dll in two places: (in a asp.net website and a console application) Any hints would be helpful...

Re: FIX - DataSet Error "Could not find a non generic method"
I am also getting the "Could not find a non generic method" error, but the fix for my end was adding a non-generic method containing the exact parameters being passed.

Re: Atlas enable an existing .net 2.0 site
Using VWD Express and was stuck with same problem, my entire project was on network drive. Moved it to local disk solved the problem.
