Re: RequiredFieldValidator
Do you have an ASP.NET 2.0 site with ASP.NET Ajax Extensions 1.0 or an ASP 3.5 site?

Re: Which Ajax Framework to use?
We have been using the Telerik controls for about a year and a half now. The new version is built on the ASP.NET Ajax 1.0 framework, so it integrates better than it had with older versions. I haven't tried or even heard of the others before...

Re: Treeview in UpdatePanel
For controls outside the update panel, you would need to make them a trigger for the update panel. There was a lot of hacking around with the treeview to get it working with the update panel though. You would probably want to search around on here. It has probably been over a year since I have heard of people doing that though, so the posts may be at least that old.

Re: Treeview in UpdatePanel
I think people had gotten around some issues by doing everything maunally in the PreRender event. We still had some errors that way with certain browsers or under certain condidtions, although other people here claimed to get it to work that way.

Re: TreeView in UpdatePanel HoverNodeStyle stops working after a node is selected
The Treeview isn't supported in UpdatePanels. There are a few 3rd party controls out there that are nice, but most of them aren't free. We use the RadControls, but we haven't done all that much lately with their Tree control.

Re: VS 2008 AJAX Problem
I think that is the problem.. You need the Scriptmanager and update panels in the form, not the other way around.

Re: VS 2008 AJAX Problem
You didn't switch to IIS7 this time from using something else before, did you? The settings vary a little with IIS7..

Re: VS 2008 AJAX Problem
VS2008 targets the 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 frameworks... The web.config will only have ajax settings if you choose 3.5 with VS2008.

Re: VS 2008 AJAX Problem
Are all the web.config file settings set up for Ajax? If this is not a 3.5 project, Ajax Extensions need to be installed too.

Re: UpdatePanel.Update From MasterPage
Are you trying to change the content page? If so, you can't do it that way because masterpages aren't like frames, but similar to a template around the page. When the content page changes, you are going to another page, not simply changing some content in part of the page.
