Here is how it was implemented: One database for all websites One website engine for all websites (inlcluding all the services etc.) One admin panel for all websites Templates System which allows using custom skin for each website, different templates for emails etc. Each website can have different set of pages and modules enabled/disabled Federated authentication with OpenID One super admin panel for managing websites Sessions are stored in SQL Server

  I have the same issue with custom profile property attributes. Only "AllowAnonymous" is present in Attributes collecton of SettingsPropertyValue.. Any suggestions?

  Yep, JeremyS is right. When you turn off ReSharper's Intellesense it works correctly. Menu -> ReSharper -> Options -> Intellisense -> General -> (*) Visual Studio Just have careated a ticket related to this issue on JetBrains website: http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/RSRP-84168 Welcome to vote on it :)

  I have double-checked the declaration. Type name is correct. Maybe it doesn't work when ReSharper is installed... Website buils without problems, displayed correctly in browser, but Intellisense still doesn't work one .aspx/.ascx view pages without code-behind files.

  You just have explicitly added Version, Culture and PublicKeyToken to my example though all they are optional as far as I know. Anyway I have also added them and have same issues with Intellisense:

  Here is an example: ViewsWithoutCodeBehind.zip Intellisense doesn't work without code-behind files and inheriting generic class declared on .aspx page in CLR way.

  Looks like removing code-behind file and decalring inheriting class on .aspx/.ascx page itself doesn't bring any value. Because intellisense doesn't work in this scenario. Let's vote for this bug: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=104071 Maybe VS dev team will fix it.

  I am also looking for an easy way of search and replace functionality (with regular BLOCKED EXPRESSION in web deployment projects.. Any ideas on how to do that?
